Chapter 1477 I Naturally Won't Let You Die

"Eldon, how did the Soto family end up with someone like you—a man who fancies other men?"

Noticing Eldon's indifference, the man spat out a curse. "If word gets out, do you really think those who despise people like you won't come after you?"

In Mystic Prison, the rules were simple: people with Eldon's orientation, deemed unable to contribute to society, were sentenced to death. These laws were set by those in power. Two people like Eldon couldn't have children, couldn't bring new blood into Mystic Prison, and so were naturally despised.

Eldon lay back with his hands behind his head, looking completely at ease.

"Yeah, yeah, I should be dead. But too bad, I'm still alive and kicking. You can keep yelling from outside the cage."

The man was trembling with rage, taking a deep breath.

"Grandpa has heard about you and is on his way. Just you wait!"

With that, the man gave Raymond a curt nod and stormed off.

Once the door closed, only Raymond and Eldon were left.

Eldon spoke with a mocking tone, "Do you think that place called Vistalia really won't discriminate against people like me? Some countries even issue marriage certificates?"

"They do."

"Raymond, I really hope I can live to see that country you talked about."

Raymond's brow furrowed slightly, his tone calm, "I won't let you die."

Eldon shifted his hands, finding a more comfortable position.

"Let's hope so. I've never left Mystic Prison. We always thought it was the only country in the world."

Raymond didn't respond, just adjusted his black robe.

"I'm going to look around outside, gather some information."

"Aren't you going to see your wife?"

"I will, but there's been a lot of turmoil on the island tonight. The place she was staying at got destroyed."

"Is she okay?"

"She's fine, but I lost track of her and now can't get in touch."

Selena had left her phone number on a small screen, but with the power outage that night, all the information was lost.

Plus, with Raymond in disguise, no one was talking to him.

He still didn't know Selena's number. He had planned to find her tonight, but her place was now in ruins.

Selena was being watched. He tried to follow her but was discovered by the Soto family, causing delays.

Now he had no idea where she was.

But if they were both on the island, they should meet within two days.

Raymond rubbed his forehead, opened the door, and walked out.

When morning came, Selena woke up.

She lifted a corner of the tent and saw Mario squatting outside, playing with mud.

Emilio sat on a rock, looking worriedly into the distance.

They were on the run, and she couldn't relax either.

"Emilio," she called out, tossing him a cookie.

"Eat something to keep your strength up."

She then looked at Mario, who had somehow caught two fish and was roasting them nearby, the innards already cleaned out.

She was a bit surprised.

"Who cleaned the fish?"

Emilio tore open the cookie wrapper. "Yeah, I did. You really think a lunatic like him could manage that? Still, he's got incredible luck—he found two fish in the stream this morning. If he weren't so crazy, he might actually be something."

Selena raised an eyebrow. Christopher, from the Montague family, was indeed special, blessed by God.

As for Mario, he had some influence in Vistalia; otherwise, Stellaria's people would have captured him long ago.

She tossed a cookie to Mario.

Mario turned away, his tone indifferent, "Not in the mood to eat."

Selena walked over, picked up a stick with a fish on it, and sniffed it. It smelled pretty good.

"Why the bad mood?"

He didn't seem to have a fever anymore.

"Selena."

He made a move to hug her, but Selena pushed him away, frowning.

Since he became "dumb," his actions were sometimes too affectionate.

He didn't have a clear sense of self, sometimes thinking he was Raymond.

Why did he think that?

But what useful answers could she possibly get from someone insane?
