Chapter 1453 Alive: A Perpetual Wish

If Selena didn't know the significance of the tattoo, she would probably think this person was overthinking it.

But she had already seen the sinister nature of this tattoo here and had guessed its implications.

Mystic Prison was likely related to BK, but to what extent was still unknown.

Those who entered BK were selected elites. They weren't there for higher education but were pulled in to learn something else, or worse, to be subjects of research.

Only highly intelligent people were worth researching.

So, what was the connection between BK and that mysterious research base?

Her brow furrowed as Emilio's voice continued.

"After overhearing that conversation, my teacher has been worried about me. Her health has been deteriorating, but the high school has strict management. Teachers can't resign unless they find a replacement who passes a professional test. Only then can she stay home and rest. Otherwise, she has to go to school unless she's dead."

"How did you know I could draw?"

Emilio lowered his lashes and tugged at his lips.

"Just a hunch."

Selena looked up at the ceiling and let out a long breath.

"Is there any other inside information about this jellyfish tattoo?"

"Once you take over the teacher's position, you can use your artwork to enter competitions. If you meet the standards of the inner island, you can get in. But getting to the core island is much more complicated. To investigate this tattoo, you'll likely need to go to the core island."

Emilio touched his neck. "In two months, the exams here will be over, and I'll be taken to the core island. I don't know what my fate will be."

No wonder he seemed so cold and indifferent at such a young age.

He added, "Selena, the secret of the jellyfish tattoo lies on the core island. That's all I know. You already agreed."

In other words, no backing out now.

Selena had no chance to back out anyway.

From Emilio, she learned that among this year's high school students, he was the only one who made it to the top ten in the entire island, so he must be a top student.

The outer island's education resources were lacking, similar to a remote village in the outside world, making it hard to change one's fate.

So, Emilio, who had the tattoo, was probably the pride of the entire school.

Now that Selena had become the school's art teacher, she could interact with the school's leadership and gather more information.

She was lucky to find clues so soon after arriving.

"I understand. I agree."

Emilio stood up and heated the food he had brought back, sharing it with the other kids in the yard.

Selena sat inside, listening to the laughter outside, her face softening.

Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand, and a woman's raspy voice spoke, "Emilio is a good kid. I hope he lives, that he keeps living."

Selena knew that her arrival had given them hope. In the end, she said softly, "I'll do my best."

The woman released her hand and sighed softly. "Emilio has always had a good eye. If he didn't see hope in you, he wouldn't have brought you back."

The woman closed her eyes, her face full of exhaustion.

Selena thought for a moment and then went to find Emilio.

"I have a lot of money. Should we get a doctor for her?"

Emilio lowered his lashes and tugged at his lips. "No need. Both the teacher and I know she's just hanging on."

Selena said no more. She noticed the kids didn't even have decent shoes and were eating leftovers like a feast.

After a few seconds of silence, she headed for the door.

"Selena, where are you going?"

"To get some fresh air."

She left, took a car to the local mall, and bought a truckload of supplies before returning.

"Emilio, come help with the unloading."

The kids' clothes were full of patches. It was clear Emilio was doing his best to take care of everyone, but he still had to go to school, and with the low wages on the outer island, it was impossible to do everything perfectly.

She had bought a truckload of daily necessities, snacks, and some clothes and shoes.

When Emilio came out and saw it, he froze, unable to imagine how much it all cost.

Selena raised her hand and glanced at the watch on her wrist. "There are two more truckloads of furniture coming."

This was beyond Emilio's comprehension. His mind went blank for a while before he quickly reached out his hand and lowered his lashes.

"Thank you."

Just as he finished speaking, a luxury car pulled up in front of the truck. The window rolled down, revealing an arrogant look.
