Chapter 232 The Man Who Can't Be Forgotten

As soon as the words left her mouth, the vibe in the room got a bit tense.

Raymond casually sipped his tea, acting like he didn't have a care in the world.

Selena, though, was caught off guard for a moment.

But she quickly pulled herself together, looked down, and spoke calmly.

"Yeah, but it wasn't just some random guy. I was out all night, and my husband called me."

She glanced at Rosalind and smiled.

Rosalind was taken aback. She had no idea Selena was married and felt a bit silly for how she'd acted before.

Clearing her throat, she heard Harrison chime in, "Rosalind, apologize to her. You can't just say stuff like that. Selena's just too nice to hold it against you."

Rosalind hadn't meant to target Selena this time and quickly apologized.

"Sorry, I didn't know you were married."

If she'd known, she wouldn't have gone after her like that yesterday.

"You got married so young; your husband must be pretty amazing, right?"

Selena smiled, clearly fond of her husband.

"Yeah, to everyone else, he's the best."

Rosalind, being young and blunt, didn't know when to stop.

"So, does that mean he's not the best to you?"

Selena just smiled.

Raymond, sitting nearby, kept his head down, gently rubbing the rim of his cup like he wasn't listening.

Rosalind decided to back off and her smile became more genuine.

"I get it. Even if your husband's great, there must be someone from your past you can't forget."

Harrison finally lost it and scolded, "You talk too much. Anyone would get annoyed. Sorry, I've spoiled her."

Selena looked up and smiled calmly at Harrison.

"Rosalind's just straightforward."

She didn't say anything more or answer Rosalind's question, as Rosalind had moved on to bug Raymond.

But Raymond's mood had definitely soured.

After dinner, as they were about to leave, Selena got a call from Erin, who sounded hesitant, clearly something was up.

"Aunt, what's wrong?"

"Selena, are you coming back?"

Selena had a gut feeling it was about Jacob and frowned. "Yeah, I'll be back today."

Erin hesitated before sighing. "I didn't want to bother you, but I have no choice. Your cousin got into a fight and sent someone to the hospital. Now, we're stuck at home with a bunch of people outside."

Selena was so mad she laughed, but this was her elder.

"Why did Jacob get into a fight? Where is he?"

Erin glanced at Jacob, who was sulking in the corner with a cigarette, and lowered her voice even more.

"He's smoking, and Megan hasn't come back. I can't reach her either. Selena, I really have no other options."

Just as she finished speaking, shouting and cursing could be heard from outside, with neighbors gathering to watch the drama.

Erin carefully covered the phone, sounding desperate.

Selena took a deep breath.

"I'll be there in about two hours. Don't get into it with those people. Have you called the cops?"

"We did, but Jacob hit the son of a big shot, so..."

Selena felt her blood pressure rising and forced a smile.

"Let's talk when I get back."

As soon as she hung up, she heard footsteps behind her and saw Raymond walk past her and get into the black car in front of her.

He seemed colder than ever.
