Chapter 257 She Has Been Neglected by Raymond All These Years

James got moved to a regular ward, but he was still out cold and hooked up to an oxygen mask.

His head was all bandaged up, making him look way older and more worn out.

Selena asked the doctor next to her, "When's my dad gonna wake up?"

"James was already in bad shape, and this time he barely made it. His body's really weak, so it's hard to say. It could be today, or it could be a month from now."

Selena's eyes welled up with tears.

Meanwhile, Beatrice was freaking out when she heard James was in a general ward.

She rushed to the Fair family company and found Kenny, her voice shaking with fear.

"What are we gonna do? That witch Selena got herself two bodyguards, and they're camping outside the ICU. I can't get close."

Kenny's face was grim too; he didn't think James would pull through.

"Beatrice, chill. We just need to keep Selena busy. If she's tied up, we'll get our chance."

Beatrice was so stressed her lips turned pale. She'd been on edge for days, feeling like she'd snap every time she saw Selena.

"Beatrice, didn't you say Nick had a thing for Selena? We're all here at the company, and Selena doesn't even know her way around. We can work behind the scenes, grab all the stocks, and then have Nick make a move on her. If he can get her in bed, she'll be on our side, and we won't have to worry."

Kenny hugged her, a sly look in his eyes.

"When James wakes up, tell him Selena doesn't care if he lives or dies. He'll be so mad it might just finish him off."

Beatrice, convinced by his words, went to find Nick.

Nick was also on edge. Even if he wanted to deal with Kenny, now wasn't the time. They were all in this mess together.

"Nick, find a way to sleep with Selena. Raymond's ignored her for years; she's probably lonely. Make her happy, and she'll be putty in your hands."

Nick knew they couldn't wait any longer. If James woke up and got a lawyer, they were toast.

His eyes narrowed, remembering seeing Selena at the hospital. She was buying some kind of medicine, so she was probably not as innocent as she seemed.

She was just putting on an act.

A wave of heat surged through him. Selena was really beautiful, with a unique charm. He needed a plan, fast.

When Selena was about to head back to the hotel, the construction team called her to the site.

She rushed over and found the workers looking really tense. Her gut told her something was wrong.

Walking into the first floor of Manston Manor, she saw a pillar in the middle that was already leaning, and she felt a rush of anger.

This pillar wasn't load-bearing, so it wouldn't bring down the whole building if it fell.

But it was part of her design. Now that it was tilted, it was clear the workers messed it up while tearing down other walls.

This pillar was useless now; it had to go.

This meant her original design needed changes.

This kind of mistake shouldn't have happened.

Selena's face turned cold as she heard the foreman say, "We're really sorry. The guy meant to take down that wall got sidetracked by personal stuff and messed up this pillar."

Cornerstone Construction, a top-notch renovation company, had never had this kind of problem before.

The person in charge looked guilty and a bit scared.

"We've already contacted the higher-ups at Cornerstone Construction. If you need any compensation, you can talk to them."

Selena didn't say anything, still radiating a cold aura.

This wasn't something that could be fixed with a negotiation. The problem now was her design had to change!

This pillar was crucial to the details of this section. She'd even planned for the light and shadow effects. Now that the pillar was gone, the sunlight would be different, and she couldn't use the original design.

Raymond, the owner, had a keen eye for art and would notice even the smallest change.
