Chapter 335 This Is Really an Escape

When Beatrice heard that James had opened his eyes, she freaked out.
How could this happen so soon? Didn't the doctor say he wouldn't wake up for another week?
Beatrice rushed to the hospital and saw James still in a coma, which made her breathe a sigh of relief. The bodyguards were still at the door; she couldn't do much but quickly call Kenny. "The doctor said James opened his eyes today! Kenny, what do we do? And there's trouble with Nick too; I'm really losing it here."
Kenny was a bit taken aback; he didn't expect James to bounce back so quickly and open his eyes.
But, he had already set things in motion. In two days, once the money hit his account, he’d take off and live it up abroad.
Kenny reassured her, "Beatrice, chill. He just opened his eyes; it'll be a while before he can talk."
Beatrice was still uneasy. "Once James can talk, we're toast. How about I sell my shares while he's still out, grab some cash, and we skip town together?"
Better than ending up with nothing.
Kenny squinted. Thanks to Beatrice, he had managed to handle the company's board; the deal with Apex Holdings Group was signed. He had an agreement with a top exec at Apex Holdings Group. Once the contract was signed, $14 million would be wired straight to his account.
Fourteen million bucks. With that kind of money, Kenny could live it up and keep a younger lover. Why stick around with an old woman like Beatrice? No matter how well she kept herself up, she was still aging.
Plus, over the years, Beatrice had given him a few million in total. Kenny had plenty of lovers on the side and was living pretty well.
Kenny had to look out for himself. Now that James was waking up, there was no point in staying and risking jail time.
After the phone call, Kenny's eyes lit up. His bank account showed $14 million had just been deposited!
Kenny quickly booked a flight on his phone and didn't tell anyone.
Those so-called lovers weren't real love; they were just distractions. Once he was abroad, wouldn't it be great to be with other beautiful women?
Just as Kenny's funds hit his account, Shelley called Selena. "Selena, that assistant is acting super shady. The latest info shows a $14 million deposit. Small companies don't usually have that kind of cash flow. I don't know who wired him the money, but he's also booked a flight abroad. Looks like he's planning to take the money and run."
Selena was initially thrilled about James waking up, but her mood soured fast when she heard this.
Fourteen million? There had to be some kind of deal going on.
Considering what Raymond said about the Fair family going bankrupt and the recent project they signed, it wasn't hard to imagine Kenny had sold out the Fair family for his own gain.
Selena asked, "Shelley, when's his flight?"
Shelley replied, "Tonight at nine. And I forgot to mention the most important thing; he sold his house a week ago and got $1.95 million in cash."
Selena said, "Shelley, when Kenny heads to the airport, have the bodyguards rough him up. Break a leg if you have to, so he can't move for a while."
Selena couldn't meddle in the Fair family company's affairs just yet; she had to wait for James to wake up. But the project Kenny signed would definitely have a huge impact on the Fair family while she had nothing better than to stop him in the airport!
Shelley said, "Got it, don't worry; I'll make sure it happens."
Selena hung up, rubbed her temples, and used a tissue to wipe the tears from James's eyes. She didn't know what he was thinking about, but he kept crying.
James's breathing had become steady, indicating he was asleep.
Selena was exhausted. She had planned to go back and rest, but seeing James's tears made her feel overwhelmingly sad. James was one of the few family members who still cared about her.
Selena lay down by the bed, planning to take a nap.
Kenny, carrying his passport, bank card, and phone, was just about to get into the car when a sack was suddenly thrown over his head!
Kenny snapped, "Who!"
But no one answered. They dragged him into an alley and started beating him with sticks.
Kenny was beaten black and blue.
He had to leave the country tonight. The money was already in his account, and James could wake up any moment. Once James identified him, it would all be over, and all his years of planning would be for nothing!
Who was targeting him, and why now, at this critical moment? Damn it!
Kenny was in a total panic.
