Chapter 123 Enjoy Taking Responsibility for Other People's Mistakes?

The doc finished stitching up and gave a few more instructions before heading out.

Selena took a deep breath, ignored Jacob, and walked over to Raymond. "Mr. Montague, remember the woman who smashed your car last time? She's my cousin-in-law."

Raymond's mind flashed to a sharp, mean face, and he raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, I remember."

Selena hesitated, lowering her eyelashes. "Mr. Montague, I'll cover the eight million dollars in damages, but I don't have that kind of money right now. Can you take it out of my design fees for now? For the rest, I'll set up a payment plan and pay you back gradually. Is that okay?"

Raymond's project would definitely have design fees in the millions. If he was generous, it might be around five million.

The villa at Manston Manor, though not huge, was exquisite and perfect for living.

It seemed like Raymond planned to live there long-term. If Selena put in more effort, he might give her more design fees.

But no matter what, it probably wouldn't reach eight million.

Unless Raymond was willing to pay more.

Raymond looked her up and down, not agreeing right away.

Selena felt embarrassed; Megan's behavior last time was indeed disgraceful.

"Mr. Montague, I'll include the interest too," Selena added.

Raymond glanced at the wound on his hand and spoke calmly, "Do you know how much interest eight million dollars accrues daily?"

Of course, Selena knew the interest wasn't low, but what other choice did she have?

James had given her a card, but it only had about a million on it. After all, James was hospitalized at the time and wouldn't carry a high-limit card with him.

"I know," Selena replied calmly.

"Do you always enjoy taking responsibility for other people's mistakes?" Raymond asked as he stood up from the hospital bed, moving his injured hand and wincing slightly from the pain.

To him, Selena's behavior was really foolish.

Wasn't she still renting? Yet she was willing to pay eight million for a relative like Megan.

Eight million could buy a house in Silver Bay City. Although the location wouldn't be great, it would be better than renting.

"Does your husband know you're paying this eight million?" Raymond asked.

Moreover, Selena was married. Wouldn't her husband have any objections to her suddenly paying eight million for her relative?

That was their joint property as a couple, and it might even lead to divorce.

Raymond was just asking casually, but Selena was stunned when she heard it.

She suddenly felt a surreal sense of reality, opened her mouth, but couldn't answer.

Raymond's question was just to the point; he didn't want to meddle further.

He was about to leave when Selena caught up with him.

"Mr. Montague, I'm sorry, just pretend I never said that. But I'll find a way to get you the money. At the latest, in a week, I'll give it to you. So, can you please talk to the Ridgefield Police Department and have them keep her for a few more days before releasing her?"

Brian was already in trouble now. If Erin still wanted to save Megan, she might take desperate measures again.

Selena had to rush back to Ridgefield tonight. If Brian didn't make it...

Then Selena, who had revealed the demolition news to Brian and Erin, would feel guilty for the rest of her life.

Raymond paused, unable to understand Selena's tendency to take everything upon herself.

But he only wanted the car compensation; it didn't matter who paid it.

"Okay," he said with a shrug.

Hearing Raymond agree, Selena breathed a sigh of relief and looked at his injured hand.

He had just gotten hurt for her, and now she was making such a request. If it were someone else, they would probably have already lost their temper.

Selena felt guilty and bit her lip. "Mr. Montague, until your hand heals, I can do anything for you. You're staying at a hotel now, and if there's any inconvenience, you can call me anytime. I'm pretty good at cooking, and if you don't mind, I can bring you three meals a day to the Montague Group."

She didn't know how to make up for Raymond's injury.

And it was his right hand that was injured, which would definitely affect his daily life.
