Chapter 179 Don't Push Yourself Next Time

Selena didn't want to bother Raymond, so she kept her distance.

When they got into the elevator, her legs felt like jelly, and she had to lean against the cold wall.

Raymond grabbed her hand but didn't really help her much.

When the elevator doors opened on the fifth floor, Selena's shaky fingers fumbled in her bag for the keys, but her vision was too blurry. She struggled for a while but couldn't get the key in the lock.

Raymond had to step in and help.

Once the door was open, he couldn't help but notice the room. It was super clean, but there were no men's shoes at the entrance, just a few pairs of women's slippers.

Raymond raised an eyebrow, puzzled, and glanced at Selena.

A dog started barking inside. Max got all excited when he heard the keys and came running over.

When he saw Raymond, his tail wagged like crazy, almost like it was gonna fall off.

Raymond frowned a bit but didn't say anything. He'd met this dog before.

Selena, sounding weak, said, "Mr. Montague, just put me on the couch, thanks."

Because of her fever, Selena was a bit out of it and didn't pet Max.

Max barked a few times, got no response, but didn't seem to mind. He just stared at Raymond eagerly.

He seemed to really like Raymond and plopped down right next to him.

Seeing the dog's friendly behavior, Raymond couldn't help but smirk a little.

After Raymond moved Selena to the couch, she just collapsed onto it, frowning in discomfort.

Raymond thought about helping her more but saw the couch was soft and figured she'd be fine, so he pulled back.

The room was cozy, but it didn't look like a guy lived there.

Was Selena separated from her husband?

Or maybe she moved in a hurry and didn't bring his stuff?

But still, there shouldn't be only women's shoes at the entrance.

Just then, Max barked a few times, circling around Raymond and rubbing his head against Raymond's pant leg.

Raymond looked at the dog hairs on his suit pants and frowned.

He got up to leave, but Max blocked his way, barking anxiously.

Selena woke up from the noise, saw Max rubbing against Raymond's pant leg, and sat up in a panic, calling out, "Max!"

With a scolding, Max tucked his tail and hid, looking all sad.

Raymond's face was grim, and he said coldly, "I'm leaving."

Selena got up to see him off but saw Max wagging his tail and following, making her feel a bit helpless.

Raymond realized his pant leg had been bitten and might have dog slobber on it, causing his face to darken.

Selena was fully awake now, got up weakly, and picked Max up.

For some reason, Max always liked Raymond, even when he ran away from home, he'd find Raymond.

"Mr. Montague, I'm sorry," Selena apologized, seeing the slight wetness on his high-end suit pants. She felt a bit lost, especially since Raymond was allergic to dog hair and probably feeling really uncomfortable.

Raymond looked at Selena, noticed how weak she looked, and then looked away. "Take your medicine and rest. Don't push yourself next time." His tone was flat, clearly wanting to leave fast.

"Okay, thank you, Mr. Montague," Selean said.

Raymond almost didn't look back, but as soon as he opened the door, he saw someone standing outside, about to knock. It was Lillian.

When Lillian saw Raymond, her eyes widened in shock, and she quickly stepped back. "Mr. Montague?"
