Chapter 98 Her Cover was About to be Blown
William's face lit up with a big smile as he patted Selena's hands. "So, you're willing to have a kid with Raymond?"
Selena nodded, her eyes sincere and a small smile playing on her lips. "Yeah, I am."
William was thrilled. "As long as you're on board, that's all that matters. Don't worry, whether it's a boy or a girl, I'll love them just the same."
Selena didn't want to dwell too much on the topic, worried it might get William's hopes up too high. If things didn't go as planned, it could be tough on his health.
So, she smoothly changed the subject. After hanging out with William for about an hour, she left The Montague Villa.
Just as she was about to get into her car outside, she bumped into Mia.
Mia, sporting big sunglasses, looked surprised to see her. "Penny, what are you doing here?"
Mia hadn't seen Selena come out of The Montague Villa, just saw her getting into the car, so Selena quickly came up with an excuse.
"I haven't painted in a while, so I came here looking for some inspiration."
Mia smiled, buying the excuse easily, and started chatting away. "By the way, did you hear Emily got out of the police station? Her brother Paul Adams went there himself. Emily must be so embarrassed. Paul's got a bit of a temper, so if you run into him, it's best to steer clear. Or you could call Raymond to come save you, but whatever you do, don't get into it with Paul."
Mia's words painted a picture of Paul as a rather intense individual.
Selena smiled. "Got it, thanks for the heads-up."
Mia got out of the car and pointed towards The Montague Villa. "I'm going in to see my grandpa, so I'll catch you later. See you next time."
Selena nodded and only relaxed a bit after Mia left.
She had a feeling her secret wouldn't stay hidden for long.
Once William was back, he'd definitely invite her to The Montague Villa for a meal, and she'd have to meet the rest of the Montague family.
Just as she was about to get into the car, she saw Mia coming back.
Mia said, "Oh, Penny, the day after tomorrow is my birthday party, and it's going to be here at The Montague Villa. It's going to be a big deal. Grandpa said it'll be a grand event with lots of guests. You should come too."
Selena's heart skipped a beat, and she had a bad feeling. Sure enough, her phone started ringing.
When she picked up, William's voice came through, "Selena, I forgot to mention, the day after tomorrow is Mia's birthday party. You have to come."
Selena's lips twitched; it looked like her cover was about to be blown.
She rubbed her forehead and hung up, hearing Mia continue, "Penny, are you coming? I don't invite just anyone."
Selena nodded, "Yeah, I'll be there."
"Awesome!" Mia cheered.
Selena looked at Mia's excited face, wondering how she'd react when she found out 'Penny' was the sister-in-law she thought was unworthy of Raymond.
"Oh, and Selena should be coming too. I heard Raymond's already moved in with her. She's so lucky." Mia's face showed a hint of disdain, then she sighed, "I really wonder what she looks like."
Selena could only smile, "You'll find out soon enough. Go on in, don't keep your grandpa waiting."
After Mia left, Selena got into her car, feeling troubled, even thinking about how to apologize to Raymond in advance.
What she didn't know was that shortly after she left, Raymond arrived at The Montague Villa.
The doctor had just called him, saying William refused to take his medicine.
In the entire Montague family, only Raymond could persuade him, so he had to leave work and come to The Montague Villa.
As Raymond arrived, William glared, "I think you timed it just right to miss Selena. She just left, and here you are!"
Raymond felt wronged; he had no idea Selena had been there.
Raymond asked, "Grandpa, the doctor said you refused to take your medicine?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Mia came out of the kitchen with a bowl of medicine.
Mia said, "Raymond, Grandpa didn't want to take it at first, but after seeing Selena, he agreed to."
She was holding the medicine. Over the years, William had been taking all kinds of medicine, and it couldn't be delayed.
Raymond sighed in relief, thinking Selena was somewhat useful after all.
But William's next words made his face darken.
"Raymond, Selena said she's willing to have a child with you, so I'm relieved. I thought she didn't want to because she looked down on you. Since she's willing, you should work hard to make sure she gets pregnant by the end of the year."
Raymond's eyes turned cold. Of course, Selena wanted to have a child; that way, the Fair family could fully rely on the Montague family.
Raymond had thought Selena was being considerate by not seeing him last night, unaware that she was secretly working with William to pressure him into having a child.
