Chapter 1432 Endless Troubles
Otto's brow furrowed, his interest suddenly piqued upon noticing the woman's attractive features.
He said with a malicious glint in his eye, "Is this your new fling, Richard? Make her leave immediately. The Smith family estate is no place for her to cause trouble."
Selena had heard the Smith family was difficult, but she hadn't expected Otto to be so repulsive.
Her expression turned cold as she produced two share transfer documents.
"I'm the newly appointed CEO of the Smith family business. I'll return your words to you—this is no place for you to cause trouble."
Otto's amused expression vanished once he recognized the documents. His face turned icy, as if he could freeze someone with his glare.
His chest began to heave dramatically. "Lawrence, you traitor! Richard, you fool! You've handed the Smith family shares to an outsider! You'll both pay for this when your grandparents return! Just wait! Richard, you've become completely reckless, convincing Lawrence to transfer the family holdings to a stranger!"
Selena ignored his tirade and turned to the security guards. "Escort them out."
The guards instinctively glanced toward Richard, but years of service to the Smith family had taught them to read situations well.
Without waiting for Richard's command, they flanked Otto and seized his arms.
Otto couldn't believe it. When reality sank in, he felt utterly humiliated.
"You wouldn't dare! You worthless woman, do you have any idea who I am? Even Jason, were he conscious, would show me respect!"
Selena regarded him coldly, her voice quiet but firm, "Get out."
Though her words were soft, Otto caught a glimpse of something lethal in her eyes.
His heart skipped a beat, and before he could respond, the guards were already dragging him away.
He wondered, 'Who is Selena? Why does her commanding presence remind me of Jason?'
The room fell silent again. Richard stood there, visibly relieved, then approached Jason's bedside with tears welling in his eyes.
With Jason incapacitated, the other opportunists in the Smith family were already circling like vultures, especially with Lawrence gone and everyone eyeing the shares.
He gently reached for the photograph clutched in Jason's palm, carefully extracting it and placing it aside.
Selena, standing nearby, caught sight of the photo.
Somehow, she instantly recognized the woman as Barbara!
Raymond leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Your birth mother was Barbara. She was also Lawrence and Richard's mother. The current Mrs. Smith is Barbara's identical twin sister. What exactly happened between them remains unknown. Jason has been investigating this for years, but Cora hasn't slipped up once. Your mother wasn't called Barbara—her real name was Octavia."
Selena had suspected as much, but her body tensed when she saw the photograph.
While she felt little connection to Jason, her emotional bond with Barbara ran deep.
In the photo, Barbara stood beside Jason.
Selena immediately sensed the blood connection.
Her eyes reddened as she looked at the white-haired Jason.
After a long moment, she managed to say, "I'll find the antidote for you."
As soon as she spoke, Jason's eyes opened briefly.
It lasted only seconds, as if the effort had drained his remaining strength.
This time, his tears flowed freely, not just a single drop.
Selena took a tissue and gently wiped them away.
As she did, the ache in her heart grew heavier.
Jason had searched for her for so many years, surely imagining their reunion a thousand different ways. He could never have envisioned meeting her in this condition.
She carefully tucked his blanket around him.
She had planned to return to the underground fighting arena with Raymond, but as they prepared to leave, someone was waiting at the mansion gates.
"Mr. Richard Smith, Mr. Nolan Smith and Mrs. Tatum Smith request your presence. Mr. Lawrence Smith has already joined them. They hope you'll come immediately," someone reported.
Richard's expression darkened. Meanwhile, Otto, who had been ejected from the estate, was waiting outside and had even sent chrysanthemums.
"Richard, take these. They're for your father. Looking at Jason's condition, I doubt he'll last more than a few days. Best to be prepared."
Richard was furious, but the Smith family had strict rules against internal conflicts.
Otto had an entire car filled with chrysanthemums delivered outside the mansion.
"Don't say I'm not considerate toward family. These cost me quite a sum."
As he spoke, his gaze shifted to Selena.
Without hesitation, Selena turned on a nearby faucet and aimed the high-pressure car wash hose directly at Otto.
The powerful spray flattened his hair and drenched his glasses.
"You miserable woman! Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Before he could say more, his entourage was also soaked, the chrysanthemums they held reduced to a soggy mess.
Selena kept the hose trained on them.
Otto couldn't bear the humiliation and quickly retreated to his car.
His associates scrambled after him, leaving behind a scattered mess of flowers.
Selena shut off the water and turned to Richard with a furrowed brow. "Are you going to meet your grandparents now?"
Richard nodded, his mouth twitching slightly. "Otto will cause more trouble. Grandfather and Grandmother will certainly question the Smith family share transfers. Lawrence and I must explain the situation to them."
Selena frowned, concerned that Nolan and Tatum might cause problems for Jason.
With Jason in his current state, if Nolan and Tatum behaved like Abigail from the Montague family, Richard would face tremendous pressure.
