Chapter 1478 Do You Take Me for a Child?
Selena sighed, hearing Mario echo her with a sigh of his own.
"Selena, I wanna go home. Let's leave this island and head back to Manston Manor."
Selena shoved a cookie into his mouth. "Eat something first."
She didn't dare leave the bridge tunnel, especially during the day. Who knew where those people were hiding?
With these two, there was no way they could escape unscathed.
Selena munched on a cookie and told Emilio to get some rest.
Emilio asked, "You heading out tonight?"
"Yeah, I need to check on those people from last night. There seemed to be two groups—one after me and the other fighting among themselves. Looked like they captured Raymond. I gotta find out."
A glint of light flashed in Emilio's eyes.
Should he put on another act tonight while she was out?
He had already contacted his people and confirmed that the ones who blew up the small villa last night were K's men.
Mystic Prison was Emilio's territory. Despite his young age, he was quite capable. K hadn't infiltrated his forces, but there were still some of K's people around.
Probably from the first day Selena entered, K's people had been watching her.
But since it was Emilio's territory, they hadn't made any big moves.
Emilio was getting impatient. He really hated K.
The three of them hid under the bridge all day.
When night fell, Selena left, reminding Emilio, "If those people find this place, take Mario and run. Don't worry about me. You have my number; you can contact me anytime."
"Got it."
Emilio's lips curled into a smile. Tonight would be Selena's last.
Once she was captured and tortured...
Selena patted his head, her tone worried. "Emilio, if you have something on your mind and I can help, you must tell me."
Emilio's eyelashes fluttered, and he casually asked, "Where exactly is the jellyfish seal?"
Selena froze. Why was he asking about that?
"Selena, will you tell me?"
Selena was silent for a few seconds before saying, "There's no reason not to tell you. I did bring it to Mystic Prison, but knowing the dangers here, I buried it in the yard of our house on the outer island. You can come with me to get it later."
That little yard? Impossible. He hadn't seen her make any moves.
Selena raised her hand and ruffled his hair. "Emilio, why do you want it? It's dangerous."
Emilio swatted her hand away, his eyes dark. She probably wasn't telling the truth. Something that important wouldn't be left in that yard.
A cold smile tugged at his lips. It seemed she needed to be captured tonight. Only torture would work. He had given her a chance, but she didn't appreciate it.
"I understand, Selena. Go ahead, I'll take care of Mario."
Provided no one came here tonight, or he'd continue using Mario as bait.
Selena made to leave but turned back, grabbing Emilio's hand and giving him a piece of candy. "The only one."
Emilio felt a bit of heat in his palm. He instinctively wanted to throw the candy away but feared it would be too obvious.
"Do you think I'm a kid?"
"Aren't you just a kid? I'll be back soon. What happened last night won't happen again."
Leaving the candy, Selena walked away.
She would never have guessed that the Emilio she first met was now one of BK's leaders.
After all they'd been through together, she understood his helplessness, his resentment, and his despair about the future.
She instinctively treated him like a younger brother.
Just like when she herself was seventeen or eighteen—at that helpless age.
