Chapter 199 Two Men Meet

Selena quickly grabbed some tissues and wiped up the spilled milk. "Sorry, Mr. Montague."

Raymond shifted his gaze away.

Selena kept cleaning and noticed a few drops on his pants. She grabbed more tissues and wiped them off.

Raymond was about to move some documents when he felt a hand on his leg.

He stiffened and grabbed her wrist immediately.

Selena looked up, a bit confused.

Raymond let go of her hand and said, "Eat first."

Selena pulled her hand back and tossed the tissues in the trash. "Mr. Montague, do you still need medication for the wound on your back?"

"No," Raymond replied.

Selena didn't say anything else. After finishing their meal, they got up and headed downstairs together.

By then, Alice was long gone. Selena stood at the hotel entrance while Raymond was already getting picked up by John.

As he got into the car, he saw Selena walking towards a black Mercedes.

A moderately tall man stepped out and said something to her, making her smile briefly.

Lucas had a pretty average appearance.

Next to him, Selena looked like she was from another world.

Selena was so striking that she made Lucas look like a servant.

Raymond looked away and focused on the documents on his lap.

John, who was driving, was also curious but didn't dare to ask any questions.

In the Mercedes, Lucas's cheeks were flushed with excitement. "Penny, I can't believe you gave me a car. I don't even know how to thank you."

Selena was surprised. She hadn't given Lucas the car, especially since she wasn't financially well-off at the moment.

This Mercedes must have been expensive.

But after a moment's thought, she knew it was from Shelley.

And Shelley had clearly restrained herself; otherwise, she would have casually given away a luxury car worth millions.

Shelley's family was in the diamond business and never lacked money. A single bag could cost two or three million dollars.

Selena didn't say much to Lucas, as Shelley was just a waitress in his eyes.

Lucas was so excited he was almost jealous. These girls from wealthy families were truly enviable. Giving away a five hundred thousand dollar car just like that—how many years would he have to work to earn that?

This was Lucas's first time driving such a nice car, and he was very cautious, afraid that other cars might scratch it.

He drove Selena all the way to Rose Garden.

Selena told him her room number, asked him to remember it, and then got out of the car.

"Thanks for picking me up today," she said. "If I need you again, I'll call you. Your salary will be deposited into your account on the 10th of every month."

A five hundred thousand dollar car plus thirty thousand dollars a month, and he only needed to show up occasionally.

No wonder Philip wanted to pursue Shelley. These rich people could casually give away money that ordinary people couldn't earn in a lifetime.

Lucas could only blame himself for not having Philip's looks. "Okay, Penny, just call me anytime."

He could even quit his job. Earning four thousand dollars a month with a lot of hassle and a boss who always caused trouble—it was suffocating just thinking about it.

After Selena went upstairs, Lucas carefully touched the steering wheel.

When the car was delivered this morning, he even thought they had the wrong person. It wasn't until they said it was from Penny that Lucas snapped out of it.

Lucas took a deep breath and drove off.

It was Saturday, and there was a traffic jam outside. He made several turns and finally parked at the company building at the same time as a luxury car.

Outside the Cornerstone Construction building, a lot of people had suddenly gathered, including some high-level executives he had seen before, all standing on either side.

Lucas was puzzled. What was going on?

Then, Raymond got out of the luxury car.

Lucas hadn't noticed Raymond earlier because all his attention was on Selena, and he didn't recognize this face.

He just felt that this man had a strong presence and striking looks.

The president of Cornerstone Construction even came down personally to greet him, which was quite a spectacle.

"Mr. Montague, welcome." The president stood in front of Raymond, smiling broadly.

Raymond was planning to invest in Ridgefield, which naturally required a large construction team. The Montague Group had chosen Cornerstone Construction for the job.

Raymond nodded slightly, and his gaze happened to meet Lucas's.
