Chapter 157 He Would Definitely Get a Divorce
When Selena first met Grace, she could tell right away that Grace was super cultured and always spoke so softly.
Carter said Grace was fierce, but Selena was actually kind of jealous. Besides Barbara, Grace was the classiest woman she’d ever known.
After going through such a rough time and being alone in the hospital, Selena's emotions were all over the place.
Last night was damp, her cheeks hurt, and her whole body felt awful from the meds.
Selena dreamed of Barbara.
But the dream was way too short. Barbara had been gone for years, and Selena had almost forgotten what her mom's warmth felt like.
Grace was like the definition of gentleness.
"Penny?" Grace called out. Seeing Selena lost in thought, Grace figured she was sad. "Every family has its issues. If you don't want me to meet your parents, that's cool. Remember what I told you last time? If something happens, ask Carter for help. You're his girlfriend; he'll help you."
The nicer Grace was, the guiltier Selena felt.
"Ms. Montague, I know, I'll remember," Selena whimpered, wanting to get out of there.
Grace noticed her discomfort and thought it was just her pride. After all, she'd been caught in a bad spot twice by her boyfriend's mom, and being so strong, she wouldn't tell Carter about it. She must be feeling embarrassed.
Grace smiled smoothly, "You have my number saved. My attitude hasn't changed."
Selena nodded awkwardly. Finally reaching the hospital entrance, she took a deep breath.
After getting in the car, she drove to Ashbourne Manor.
Raymond was probably at the company, so she wouldn't run into him.
But she was tired of always hiding. She really hoped the bank money would come through soon.
Entering the living room, Fiona was shocked to see the slap mark on her cheek.
"Ms. Fair, what happened to your face?" Fiona asked, quickly applying a cold compress.
Selena was really scared by what happened last night. She even thought her life was over.
That sense of panic lingered in her chest. Now back at Ashbourne Manor, seeing Fiona's face, she finally felt alive again.
"Fiona, I'm fine. I just want to rest for a few hours," Selena said.
Fiona couldn't say anything else and just watched as Selena went upstairs.
Fiona was really worried, wondering if Selena had been wronged outside. Could it be a conflict with Raymond?
But Raymond, though cold, didn't seem like the type to hit women.
Fiona had no choice but to subtly mention to William over the phone that Selena wasn't in a good state.
William couldn't sit still upon hearing this. He was hoping they would have children soon.
So that afternoon, a bunch of high-quality ingredients and gifts were sent to Ashbourne Manor, all to please Selena.
But Selena didn't know any of this and was still resting in her room.
Waking up in the afternoon, she began to worry about the renovation of Raymond's house.
Reid had acted irrationally because of Selena's cooperation with someone else. To protect her reputation, he would probably continue to harass her. She needed to come up with a plan.
Selena took a shower and decided to meet with the company colleagues that afternoon. Raymond's house needed to start construction soon; it couldn't be delayed any longer.
She took out her phone and thought about the money she had borrowed from Raymond, so she transferred it back.
Raymond was on his way back to Ashbourne Manor, not because he wanted to see Selena, but because William had called and insisted he go back to accompany her.
William said Selena was in a bad mood and needed a man's care.
William was very forceful this time and even emphasized that servants at Ashbourne Manor would report to him in real-time. If Raymond didn't go back, William would personally come to the Montague Group and drag him back.
Raymond's mind flashed with Selena's face, full of adoring eyes and a delicate appearance. He wondered what she had said to William this time.
As a result, he felt even more disgusted with his nominal wife.
Once William recovered, Raymond would definitely get a divorce as soon as possible. He couldn't wait another minute.
