Chapter 165 Raymond Really Did Love Olivia
Sofia was really having a hard time accepting it. She and Olivia were tight, and after Olivia got her a spot at the Montague Group, things were going great thanks to Olivia's connection with Raymond.
But then Selena showed up. Raymond chewed Sofia out, and she didn't dare call him by his first name anymore.
Sofia's eyes welled up with tears. Even if she didn't say anything, her hurt expression made everyone suspect Selena.
Sofia didn't respond to Selena, making things awkward.
The execs all turned to look at Selena. She wasn't a big name. Sure, she had some recognition among interior designers, but none of these execs knew her, so she was basically a stranger.
But Sofia was different. She was Olivia's cousin, and Olivia was set to marry Raymond.
Right now, sticking up for Sofia was a way to get on Raymond's good side.
So, the quick thinkers spoke up, "Which floor do you work on? We all saw when the door opened; Ms. Stone was on the ground, but you didn't even help her up. And you need an appointment to get to the top floor. You're not one of those women who harass the receptionist just to sneak up and see Mr. Montague, are you?"
Yeah, there had been women who tried to sneak up before. When caught, they were hauled off by the cops.
Everyone knew Raymond hated that kind of thing the most.
Hearing the exec's question, Sofia smiled a bit, but her eyes got even redder, looking super upset.
Sofia was pretty attractive, and when she cried, it made guys want to comfort her.
But because of her connection with Olivia, the guys on the top floor never dared to confess, though many showed their affection in subtle ways.
And a bunch of execs? They were more likely to protect a delicate girl like Sofia.
Compared to Sofia's vulnerability, Selena's calmness wasn't as appealing to the guys.
Selena glanced at Raymond, who didn't seem like he was going to step in.
Looked like Selena was on her own.
"I had an appointment with Mr. Montague today," Selena said with a calm smile, pulling out her business card.
"I'm designer Penny. I handled the renovation of Mr. Montague's house and came to update him on the progress. It was my bad for not helping Ms. Stone up right away." As she spoke, Selena took out a tissue and handed it to Sofia.
Then she added, "Ms. Stone, please stop crying, or everyone will think I bullied you."
This move left Sofia with no room to continue her act.
Selena had spoken so sincerely and clearly, and now she was offering Sofia a tissue.
If Sofia didn't take it and kept complaining, Selena would definitely bring up the surveillance footage.
If Sofia took it, it would mean Selena was telling the truth, and she was just scared by the elevator shaking. The execs who rushed to defend her would look like fools.
Sofia was so mad her face turned pale. If she had known Selena wouldn't be intimidated by the execs and would pull this move, she wouldn't have pretended.
But now she had no choice but to take the tissue.
"Thank you, Ms. Cooper," Sofia said reluctantly.
Each word seemed to come through gritted teeth, like she wanted to tear Selena apart.
But Selena wasn't fazed by the hostility and smiled, "You're welcome."
The exec who had defended Sofia blushed instantly and could only awkwardly pretend nothing had happened, inwardly cursing Sofia's crying skills for making him look foolish.
Selena had calmed the situation and looked at Raymond. "Mr. Montague, aren't you coming in?"
Raymond stayed silent and just glanced at Sofia indifferently.
For some reason, Sofia felt nervous and quickly lowered her head, her eyes red as she walked out.
Raymond walked in as the other execs followed.
Selena stepped aside, wondering why Raymond didn't take his private elevator. Little did she know, the private elevator was under maintenance today, and Raymond had to go to a social event.
In this small elevator, the atmosphere was a bit awkward.
Selena's gaze fell on Raymond's cufflinks. He had changed them, wearing the silver-blue ones Olivia had just given him on his white shirt. Paired with his suit, the icy blue made him seem even more unapproachable.
Selena thought Raymond really did love Olivia. It had been less than ten minutes since Olivia gave him the cufflinks, and he was already wearing them.
