Chapter 97 When to Have a Child with Raymond

Raymond frowned but shrugged it off. He headed over to a nearby table to check his work emails.

The next morning, he was up early and already downstairs when Fiona brought out breakfast.

Raymond glanced around the living room but didn't spot Selena.

Fiona seemed to catch on and quickly said, "Ms. Fair was really tired yesterday and asked me not to wake her this morning."

Raymond connected the dots—she probably got back late from the hospital because of James.

But wasn't James just faking being sick?

A cold smile played on his lips as he finished his breakfast and headed to the car waiting outside.

On his first night at Ashbourne Manor, Raymond didn't see his wife Selena, whom he hadn't seen in three years.

Was Selena being super patient, or was she just trying to get his attention?

If it was the latter, she picked the wrong guy; Raymond had zero interest in her.

When he got to the Montague Group, Raymond told John, "At noon, grab some stuff and go visit James."

John nodded.

Back at Ashbourne Manor, Fiona waited for Raymond to leave before knocking on Selena's door.

Selena had already finished getting ready and was waiting for Fiona.

"Has he left?" Selena asked.

Fiona nodded, "Yes, Ms. Fair, Mr. Montague just left."

Selena headed downstairs.

Fiona looked worried and said, "Ms. Fair, if you're avoiding Mr. Raymond Montague because of Mrs. Montague, should I let Mr. William Montague know?"

Selena shook her head, "No need, Fiona. You're not an outsider, so I'll be straight with you. I don't like Raymond. I married him for the three hundred million dollars in financing. It's no surprise Mrs. Montague doesn't like me. Once Grandpa's health gets better, I'll divorce Raymond."

Fiona just nodded, not knowing what else to say.

After breakfast, Selena grabbed a gift for William and planned to visit The Montague Villa.

William now lived alone at The Montague Villa, still surrounded by many servants and doctors.

Maybe because he was back in the country, William seemed in good spirits. When he saw Selena, he excitedly stood up with the help of a cane. "Selena, great to see you."

A hint of guilt crossed Selena's face, and she quickly approached, "Grandpa, I'm sorry. My dad's health took a sudden turn yesterday, and I missed picking you up. I brought you a gift."

The gift Selena brought for William wasn't something she bought. With William's wealth, there wasn't much he couldn't get himself.

She handed him a painting she had done, feeling a bit shy about it.

"I heard you always liked that incomplete painting," Selena said. "So, I finished the missing half. I hope you won't laugh at me."

William had always regretted that a painting he collected was only half complete. Even with just half, it was still a masterpiece. Hearing that Selena had completed it, his eyes lit up.

William smiled warmly, "Why would I laugh at you? I've always admired your painting skills. Otherwise, Steve wouldn't have taken you as a student."

Steve Butler was a big name in traditional painting, and Selena was his only student.

Selena was pretty low-key and hadn't told many people about this over the years.

It just so happened that Steve knew William, and Selena had once saved William's life. William adored her, which led to the arranged marriage with Raymond.

William eagerly unrolled the painting.

In the half of the painting William had, there were four people sitting on a luxurious rug, attended by servants, with rocks and trees around, giving it an elegant and unique look.

But the painting originally had seven people, and the other three were missing.

Selena had the idea to complete the painting back in college. Unlike other ancient paintings that were just damaged, this one was incomplete. So she decided to finish it herself, spending several years on it before showing it to William.

A look of satisfaction appeared on William's face.

"If Steve knew you weren't participating in competitions anymore, he'd be heartbroken," William said.

A hint of guilt crossed Selena's face. "Grandpa, once I finish my current tasks, I'll start painting again."

"That's good. Don't waste your talent. I really like this painting. I'll have it hung on the study wall later."

Selena smiled gracefully. "As long as you like it."

"Selena, when do you plan to have a child with Raymond?" William asked, then started coughing, his eyes becoming slightly blurry as he tried to suppress his discomfort.

Knowing William's poor health, Selena didn't dare say anything that might upset him. "Grandpa, I'll do it as soon as possible."
