Chapter 183 Return to The Ashbourne Manor
Lillian felt a bit wronged and kinda defiant. "Ms. Montague, everything I just said is true. Penny and Mr. Montague..."
Before she could finish, Grace cut her off, "Raymond's decisions are his own. Telling me is pointless. I'm just his elder; I won't meddle in his personal life."
Grace's tone was icy, and her gaze shifted to Selena.
She found it hard to believe that Selena could tame Raymond.
Even if Raymond didn't like his wife, he wouldn't go after other women.
But Grace thought about the two times she saw Selena at the hospital, looking all aggrieved and stubborn. Didn't she herself feel moved?
If such tactics were used, Raymond might indeed be drawn in.
Grace, who'd been in this circle for so many years, realized for the first time that she could misjudge someone.
"Take care of yourself." With that, Grace left.
The room fell into silence.
After a while, Selena rubbed her temples. "Mr. Ashford, take your girlfriend away."
Carter still liked Lillian, so he naturally had to calm her down, "Baby, let's go to your room. I'll explain everything to you."
Lillian, however, wasn't having it, her gaze piercing straight at Selena. "Penny, I never expected you to be so scheming. I took care of you last night and considered you a friend. This isn't over!"
Carter managed to coax and kiss Lillian into leaving, and only then did she temporarily calm down.
When Selena closed the door, she still felt a faint headache.
This building had two apartments per floor, and on this floor, it was just her and Lillian. Now that her relationship with Lillian had broken down, and with the woman tangled up with Jacob also living in this community, Selena felt very uncomfortable.
She had looked at houses for so long and invested all her savings.
It would be better to go back to Ashbourne Manor, where at least she only had to avoid Raymond, rather than getting caught up in other people's drama and ending up in such a mess.
Selena sat in the living room to rest, her head throbbing off and on.
The police contacted her soon about last night's car accident. Grace had provided a compensation plan.
Luckily, most of the blame fell on Jane, with Selena just being disliked by Grace.
Looking at the compensation terms, it was clear Grace was pissed.
Selena really didn't want to stay here any longer, so she called Fiona.
Hearing that Raymond wasn't there, she quickly took Max and planned to stay for a couple of days to avoid seeing Lillian.
Regarding the conflict with Lillian, Selena did bear some responsibility. Lillian had indeed taken care of her last night, and today she had confronted her.
She decided to wait a bit before going back to stay.
Fiona's eyes lit up when she saw Selena bringing Max back. "Ms. Fair, you finally came to your senses."
Fiona, beaming, took Max and continued to confine him in the original room.
Fiona said as she put on an apron, "Ms. Fair, did you and Mr. Montague make plans for tonight? He's coming back too. His assistant just called and asked me to prepare dinner."
Selena frowned. Why wasn't Raymond staying at the hotel and instead coming back to Ashbourne Manor?
This time, William hadn't given any tasks, right?
Selena felt helpless and realized she had to keep dealing with this.
