Chapter 1501 Now Is Not the Time to Disturb Her

Selena felt someone touching her, fury flashing in her eyes. But she couldn't move—Mario had administered some kind of injection that left her fully conscious yet completely paralyzed. She could perceive everything around her with crystal clarity, but her body refused to obey.

Emilio leaned closer. "Ms. Fair, you're to marry Mario. Did you know?"

Shock flickered through Selena's gaze. Had Mario lost his mind? She was pregnant, and he wanted to marry her? Who was this masked stranger, and how had he learned of this plan? She blinked frantically, desperate to speak, but no words would come.

Recognizing her condition, Emilio's brow furrowed. He possessed no medical expertise and couldn't fathom what had been done to her. "If you don't want to marry him, blink."

Selena blinked repeatedly—twenty times or more—her cheeks flushing red with indignation. She sensed that Mario's current resolve was unshakeable, his intentions shrouded in mystery but certainly malevolent.

Having received his answer, Emilio nodded and departed. Parker waited outside, wearing a broad smile. "Mr. Blair, your timing is fortuitous—you'll be able to toast the happy couple."

Inexplicable anger surged through Emilio. If this concerned any other woman, he wouldn't interfere. But why did it have to be Selena? Ignoring Parker entirely, he returned to his quarters.

Seated in his chair, he heard the bustle outside as Schmidt family servants began wedding preparations. Mario truly couldn't wait another moment. Emilio wondered what Raymond would do tonight—would he realize that Mario's bride was Selena? Restless, he retired early to bed.

At midnight, his contacts reported that more of K's operatives had infiltrated the island. Though logic dictated immediate withdrawal, Emilio remained unmoved. As he sat on his bed's edge preparing to respond, soft footsteps echoed outside, followed by a strange odor permeating his room.

Instantly swallowing an antidote pill, he escaped through the window and made his way to Raymond's quarters. The same peculiar scent lingered there, but the room stood empty—Raymond had evidently detected the threat as well.

What were the Schmidts planning? Emilio's eyes narrowed as gunfire erupted in the distance, accompanied by the thunder of artillery, though the sounds originated far from the Schmidt compound.

He contacted his operatives immediately. "Mr. Blair, two forces have engaged outside—Raymond's people and K's. They've encountered each other."

Though Emilio wanted to remain uninvolved, concern for Raymond's survival in Mystic Prison gnawed at him. Hurrying toward Selena's room, he found Mario stationed outside her door.

What was Mario doing here at this hour?

Mario raised his hand, blocking Emilio's path.

Emilio's laugh was cold as steel. "You don't know who I am?"

"I don't care who you are. She's not to be disturbed."

Without hesitation, Emilio drew a blade and lunged. Mario's reflexes proved exceptional—he dodged and counterattacked with fluid precision. They were evenly matched until Mario's gun pressed against Emilio's temple.

"If you value your life, don't make any sudden moves."

Emilio jerked backward, kicking the weapon skyward. They clashed again, their struggle rattling the door with thunderous impacts.

Inside, Selena stared helplessly at the ceiling, aware of the commotion yet powerless to act. Gunshots rang out, followed by the heavy thud of a falling body. Unable to determine who had fallen, she could only strain her eyes toward the doorway, waiting.
