Chapter 103 Silly Billy Maggie
Of course, Selena understood. George and David came to apologize.
'But why are they apologizing to Maggie?'
‘He’s a prominent figure in the business field while she’s just an assistant.'
'This is impossible.'
'However, the impossible has actually happened.'
Selena thought of what Jones had said. Did Maggie really have a significant background?
But she had read Maggie's resume; married, high school education, and her work experience was just selling goods on the street.
How could the Quixote family bow down to a person like this?
It was really weird.
Even if the Quixote family collapsed, they would still be at a height which Maggie could not reach, even if she worked her whole life.
George was too enthusiastic. He was very sincere but Maggie dared not accept.
If she accepted this money, what if the Quixote family accused her of extortion afterwards?
These diamonds were so valuable. If she accepted them, she would spend decades in jail.
Maggie was cautious and did not dare accept. She shook her head and said, "Mr. Quixote, I really can't accept it, you should take it back."
Upon hearing this, George became anxious and quickly signaled to David with his eyes, "You troublemaker, quickly apologize to Maggie. If Maggie doesn't forgive you, keep apologizing until she does."
Maggie was speechless.
Wasn't he guilt-tripping her?
David struggled to climb up from the stretcher. He endured the pain and said to Maggie again, "Maggie, it was my fault. I really drank too much last night, my head was in a muddle, I'm sorry. I'm willing to compensate you in any way."
David clearly didn't drink last night; Maggie didn't smell any alcohol on him.
And even if he did drink, could he blame his mistakes on alcohol?
Maggie looked at them. She was confused why they didn't hold her accountable and instead came to beg for her forgiveness. She said, "Mr. Quixote, you are an adult with self-control. I believe you know very well what you did last night. You have a good father; you should thank him."
In Maggie’s opinion, George apologized to her because he was a just person and not because he wanted to blindly protect his son.
David did not dare to utter a single word. He lowered his head and accepted the scolding. He was completely different from his previous arrogance.
George took the opportunity to ask, "Maggie, you’re really letting what happened last night go?"
Maggie asked, "Actually, I wanted to ask this too, Mr. Quixote, will you really let this go?"
His own son was beaten up and even lost a finger, and they were just letting her off?
George quickly waved his hand, "Of course, this is all my useless son's fault."
Hearing that there would be no further investigation, Maggie felt relieved and confirmed again, "So, that's the end of it then?"
George made his stance clear, saying, "Everything will be managed according to your wishes."
With the confirmation, Maggie let out a sigh of relief. "Well, that settles it. David being injured evens the score."
She wouldn't appeal to the court against David's indecent assault., nor would the Quixote family bother them.
In fact, Maggie knew she wouldn't stand a chance if she really took the Quixote family to court. If they were willing to resolve the matter peacefully, she wouldn't pursue it either.
As a nobody, she wouldn't dare to pursue it.
Maggie had no idea how much those words moved George. He was extremely grateful, saying tearfully, "Maggie, you are the Quixote family's benefactor. Thank you, Maggie."
Maggie was confused and thought George was praising her generosity, so she smiled and said, "Can I leave now?"
George stood respectfully at the side and said, "Maggie, please go ahead."
Maggie nodded and couldn't wait to leave this place. However, she couldn't be too obvious about it, so she calmed herself down and slowly walked out of the company building. As soon as there was no one around, she picked up her pace, afraid that the Quixote family might change their minds.
After running for a while, Maggie finally stopped and sat down by a flowerbed. She called Fiorello and said, "Fiorello, the Quixote family approached me just now. They won't pursue last night's incident, so we're in the clear. I'm so happy..."
Maggie was still happy, but Fiorello was caught between laughter and tears on the other end of the phone.
