Chapter 528 Driving Anytime, Anywhere

Maggie tied on an apron and went to the kitchen to cook pasta for Fiorello, while Fiorello went to the bedroom to check on Adalia.

The wound on Adalia's forehead was already healing. To prevent scarring, Fiorello had someone buy the best scar removal cream from abroad.

Adalia's wound was healing well.

Fiorello looked at the sleeping Adalia, feeling very at ease. He gently held Adalia's small hand and sat there watching her for a while, his eyes full of tenderness.

Perhaps it was love by association, or maybe something else, but the sense of closeness Adalia gave Fiorello was always very strong.

Adalia felt like a daughter to him.

At that moment, Adalia woke up. Seeing Fiorello, she was especially happy and crawled out of the covers excitedly, "Daddy, Daddy."

"Don't let your mom hear. If she hears that I woke you up, she'll scold me," Fiorello said with a smile.

Adalia also made a shushing gesture and said with a smile, "Daddy, I miss you so much. Daddy, you work so hard. When I grow up, I'll make lots of money to take care of you, Mom, and Grandma."

"Really? Then I'll be waiting for you to take care of me," Fiorello said warmly. "Adalia, study hard. When you grow up, you can help me manage the company. That way, I can retire early and enjoy life with your mom. We can't count on Holden; he doesn't have a knack for business."

Fiorello really didn't know what to do with Holden. He lacked ambition, wasn't shrewd, and often got taken advantage of. His soft heart was also a big problem.

Maggie came to the room to call Fiorello for some chicken soup. Hearing Fiorello's intention to hand over Visionary Futures Group to Adalia, she was quite shocked.

Adalia had no blood relation to Fiorello, yet he planned to groom someone with no blood ties to inherit such a large estate.

Was Fiorello planning to disregard his own children?

Maggie thought about her own health condition. It would be really difficult for her to have another child.

Maggie didn't go in to disturb them. She sat in the dining room. When the water in the kitchen pot started boiling, she quickly went in to cook the pasta. Soon, a bowl of pasta was ready.

The pasta Maggie made was very flavorful.

"Smells great," Fiorello said as he came out of the room.

Maggie asked, "Is Adalia asleep again?"

"Yes, she's asleep," Fiorello said as he sat down to eat the pasta. The first bite made him feel satisfied. "Maggie, I suddenly remembered the days we lived in Cityhomes West. Those days were simple but very warm and happy."

He wanted to live a simple life with Maggie, without needing any fancy delicacies.

Living a simple life with daily meals and changing seasons.

After a day's work, coming home to eat a bowl of pasta made by his wife, with the child asleep, and sharing a few heartfelt words with his wife—wasn't this the life a man wanted?

Maggie smiled lightly and said, "Dulce once said you were the most down-to-earth boss, and it's true. Others want power, status, money, luxury cars, villas, and beautiful women, but you, a bowl of pasta is enough to satisfy you."

Fiorello held her hand with one hand and ate the pasta with the other, saying, "I've had all those things you mentioned. But a late-night bowl of pasta and a soulmate are hard to come by."

Maggie laughed. Yes, Fiorello was born into a wealthy family and had enjoyed everything.

But it was these simple, yet rare things that truly captured his heart.

"If you were a poor man, would you abandon your wife and children if you suddenly became rich? They say a man's three greatest joys are getting promoted, getting rich, and losing his wife," Maggie joked. "When a man has no money, he chooses a woman willing to endure hardships with him. When he has money, he chooses the woman he likes."

Fiorello responded smoothly, "There are men like that, but such men are destined not to make a lot of money. One thing is certain. A man will never let the woman he likes endure hardships. This alone can identify a bad man."

Maggie laughed, "I've learned something. I've been thinking lately about writing a book to teach women how to identify bad men."

Before she could finish her sentence, Fiorello suddenly kissed her. The kiss was full of the flavor of life. In fact, he had always been wholeheartedly living life with her, living the simplest life.

She laughed, "Isn't one bowl of pasta enough?"

"I could go for a bit more," Fiorello said in a low voice, worried about waking Adalia in the other room. He pulled Maggie onto his lap.

Maggie was wearing a dress, which was very convenient. Fiorello's fingers slipped inside.

Realizing what he wanted to do right there, Maggie blushed, "Fiorello, this position..." It was too difficult.

He kissed her again, holding back her words.

He said, "No position is too difficult for me."

He sat on the chair holding her like this, with her sitting on his lap.
