Chapter 541 Causes of Stroke

Dulce glared at Francis and cursed, "Pervert."

She had no idea Francis would actually dare to look at her chest.

"You said it yourself, I was just visually confirming," Francis said seriously, "Exaggerating."

Dulce fell silent again.

Wendy watched the two joke around, feeling uncomfortable, but flattered, "Francis, don't talk about Miss Quixote like that. She is so beautiful, finding a boyfriend should be easy. Miss Quixote, find someone a bit older, more mature and stable, who knows how to take care of you."

Dulce bluntly said, "I never date men over 22 years old, especially those in their thirties. They look strong on the outside but are weak inside, most of them have issues with sexual function."

Thirty-year-old Francis felt very awkward.

Wendy also felt awkward, not expecting Dulce to say such things.

But seeing that Dulce had no interest in Francis, Wendy felt relieved.

After dinner, Wendy went to wash the dishes again. Francis said, "Wendy, you don't have to do these. Let me do it. Here's this month's living expenses, take it."

Francis handed Wendy two thousand dollars.

Dulce was eating fruit in the living room. She found the way these two interacted a bit strange. Wendy cooked, and Francis gave her living expenses.

Wendy refused. "No need, I have enough money."

"With the little money you make working at the supermarket every month, you still have to take care of Brianna and Elise. It's not enough. Before Edward died, I promised him I would take care of you and your daughter. Take the money." Francis forced the money into Wendy's hands.

Hearing this, Dulce roughly understood what was going on.

Dulce stayed for a while and then left. Francis walked her to the apartment door and said, "Are you free tomorrow?"

"Whether I'm free or not, you'll drag me to solve a case," Dulce joked, "I've helped you so much, shouldn't your police station reward me with a banner, perhaps one that proclaims "Outstanding Citizen"? It would surely make my parents proud and delighted."

Francis said, "Okay, I'll apply for it with my superiors."

Dulce got excited. "What's the case tomorrow?"

"A whole family in Southside was wiped out, the killer is unknown. During the time of the incident, no one entered the house, the door was locked, and the whole family was dead."

Dulce felt a chill. "So tragic, not a single one left? What kind of deep hatred is this?"

Francis said, "We'll go back to the scene tomorrow to see if there are any clues. Your nose might come in handy."

"Then I'll get up early tomorrow," Dulce said excitedly, "By the way, I heard you mention Edward's death earlier. Was he your comrade?"

"Yes, three years ago, Edward and I were on a mission together. He took a bullet for me. Before he died, he entrusted his wife and child to me. Edward died because of me. Taking care of his family is my responsibility," Francis said, "Wendy sees that I'm alone, so she occasionally comes to cook for me."

"I see." Dulce understood.

A taxi arrived, and Dulce waved it down. "I'm heading back now."

"Okay," Francis responded, then suddenly said, "Not all thirty-year-old men are weak inside."

Dulce found this statement baffling.

After dinner, Fiorello took Maggie and her daughter back to their apartment.

He had to return to the Flores Manor.

Maggie understood and didn't say much. After Fiorello left, she took Adalia for a bath.

Adalia sat in the bathtub and asked, "Mom, will Dad always be with us from now on? Will we never be apart?"

Maggie couldn't guarantee that, so she smiled and said, "Adalia, your dad and I will always love you."

"Mom, Dad isn't my real dad, is he? He'll have his own kids in the future, right?"

This question stunned Maggie. "Who told you that?"

Adalia used to know but never said it out loud.

Adalia didn't speak. At that moment, Maggie's phone rang. It was Arya calling.

Arya had been in London for some time now, and she was calling; Maggie had a bad premonition.

Maggie quickly answered, and Arya urgently said, "Maggie, you need to come to London quickly. Your dad was indeed harmed by Ashley, causing his stroke. Ashley has gone mad. No wonder she wouldn't let me see your dad. I snuck in today and saw him. He can't move or speak, and he looks so pitiful."
