Chapter 206 Donating Bone Marrow
Arya was very anxious, and Maggie guessed it all correctly.
Mark came to find Maggie to donate bone marrow to another daughter.
After more than twenty years of not seeing each other, the purpose of the visit was actually to exploit Maggie. Arya felt very disappointed.
Arya kept shedding tears, and Maggie didn't press for more information.
Eleanor was tactful, knowing that Maggie and Arya couldn't discuss some things in front of her. So she stood up and said, "Maggie, I have something to attend to, so I'll head back first. You chat with Arya, and later on, Fiorello will come to pick you up."
Maggie was very grateful for Eleanor's understanding and said, "Eleanor, thank you."
"We're family, no need to thank me." Eleanor smiled and then said to Arya, "Arya, if you need any help, just let me know. We're family, so don't hesitate."
"Sorry to trouble you." Arya felt embarrassed as well.
After bidding farewell, Eleanor left.
Now, it was just Maggie and Arya at home. Maggie poured a glass of water for Arya and said, "Mom, you haven't eaten yet. I'll make you something."
"You just got out of the hospital, no need. I'm not hungry." Arya held Maggie's hand, hesitated, and said, "Maggie, the man earlier, Mark, he is indeed your father."
Seeing that Arya was willing to talk, Maggie asked, "Why did Mark come back?"
Maggie had just noticed the ring on Mark's ring finger, which indicated that Mark was married and had a family.
Arya knew that some things couldn't be kept secret. Ashley and Mark would eventually find Maggie, so she decided to lay it all out.
"Mark's daughter, Melissa, is sick and needs a bone marrow transplant. They came this time to ask you to help save Melissa." Arya's emotions rose as she spoke, her fists clenched, showing her anger.
"Maggie, you are my daughter. Ashley and Mark cannot exploit you or hurt you. I will not agree to you saving Melissa."
Maggie finally understood why Ms. Stark was so angry.
A father, who had been absent for over twenty years didn't come back to make amends with Arya and Maggie but to seek Maggie's bone marrow.
If it weren't for Melissa's illness, Mark probably wouldn't have remembered the existence of his biological daughter, Maggie.
Maggie should have been very angry, but upon hearing this, she didn't feel much.
Perhaps Maggie had never had any expectations of the role of a father.
Without expectations, there is no disappointment.
Maggie just felt sorry for Arya. When Mark made this shameful request, Arya must have been in great pain.
Maggie reached out and hugged Arya, saying, "Mom, don't be sad for Mark. Rest assured, even if Ashley and Mark come to me, I won't agree. No matter who he is, it has nothing to do with me."
Maggie wasn't so noble as to save a half-sister she had never met.
Having just escaped from the clutches of death, Maggie cherished life.
Arya's eyes reddened, and she sighed. "Maggie, I'm sorry. I misjudged people."
To have such a despicable, irresponsible father.
"Mom, why don't you come stay with me? If you stay here alone, what if Mark comes back?" Maggie suggested, "Come hide at my place; it'll be quieter."
"Let's talk about it later." Arya still didn't want to move in and added, "Last time, Ashley went to Cityhomes West, but she probably doesn't know which specific building. Maggie, you can't agree to them."
"I'm not foolish; I definitely won't agree." Maggie said, "Mom, I'll go cook something for you. Eat and get some rest, don't think about those messy things."
Maggie didn't focus on the matter with Mark. Right now, she just wanted Arya to feel better and be comforted.
As for Mark, that ungrateful man, Maggie would find him and seek justice for Arya.
After comforting Arya, Maggie left once Arya fell asleep.
Maggie hadn't gone to find Mark yet, but Mark had been waiting for her at the entrance of the neighborhood.
Seeing Maggie coming down, Mark got out of an expensive car parked by the roadside. "Maggie, I am..."
Maggie coldly interrupted, "Mr. Jackson, let's find another place to talk."
Her tone was so indifferent that it was almost cold.
