Chapter 443 Reality Defeated Conscience

Maggie was fighting to wake up from her dream, but it was like she was stuck in quicksand.

In the dream, this creepy blood mist was everywhere, making everything super spooky.

She was already sweating bullets, her forehead all damp, and her brows furrowed tight when a loud ring yanked her out of the nightmare.

Maggie snapped her eyes open, drenched in cold sweat. She flicked on the night light, feeling a tiny bit safer.

Once she got a good look around, she realized it was just a nightmare.

The phone rang again; it was a text from some random number.

Maggie grabbed her phone and saw a message: [Watch your belly.]

Her heart skipped a beat, and a wave of fear washed over her. With the nightmare she just had and the dull ache in her lower belly, she was freaking out.

She tried calling back, but no luck.

Scared out of her mind, Maggie touched her belly and whispered to her baby, "Baby, don't be scared. Mommy's got you. You gotta stay healthy. Mommy can't wait to meet you."

Maggie didn't wanna bother Fiorello with this. He was swamped with work at the factory, and she didn't wanna add to his stress.

She figured she'd just chill at home for a bit. As for the text, she'd wait till Fiorello got back from Crystal Peaks to talk about it.

That night, Maggie couldn't sleep a wink. She was too freaked out to close her eyes.

By morning, she looked like a mess, pale and tired. When Arya came to get her for breakfast and saw her looking rough, she asked, "Maggie, rough night? You look awful. Should I call the doc?"

"Just a nightmare, Mom. I'm fine. Can you take Adalia to school today?" Maggie was wiped out and had zero energy.

"You rest up. I'll take her," Arya said, "I'll be back after dropping her off."

Arya was worried about Maggie and decided to stay home today.

After breakfast, Adalia, like always, ran to Maggie's room to say goodbye to her and the baby.

"Mommy, I'm off to school. Be good at home. Daddy said no running around," Adalia said, touching Maggie's belly, "Little baby, I'm going to school. Behave in mommy's belly, or I'll spank you later."

That made both Maggie and Arya laugh.

Maggie smiled, touched Adalia's cheek, squatted down, and kissed her. "Be good at school. No fighting. But if someone hits you first, you can hit back."

Maggie was worried Adalia's fiery temper might get her in trouble at school.

Adalia promised, "Mommy, no fighting. Jacob's my buddy now."

"Good to hear." Maggie stood up and told Arya, "Mom, you should take Adalia to school now. Don't be late."

It was almost time. Arya took Adalia out. They had a driver Fiorello had arranged for Adalia to be picked up and dropped off at school.

After Adalia left, Maggie rested a bit before heading downstairs to eat.

She noticed Ariel wasn't around. She called her, but no answer.

Maggie thought it was weird since Ariel's phone was usually on.

She didn't call again and went to the kitchen to grab something to eat. While she was munching, Ariel came back.

"Ariel, where were you?" Maggie called out, "I tried calling you."

Ariel, looking all frazzled, perked up when she heard Maggie. "I went home for a bit. Had some stuff to handle. What do you want for lunch? I'll whip it up for you."

"I want pizza. Your pizza's the bomb, and some baked chicken wings too." Maggie was practically drooling at the thought.

Ariel smiled. "Got it. I'll get right on it. Just need to change first."

Ariel went to her room and quickly grabbed the abortion pills she had tossed in the trash earlier.
