Chapter 433 Caught in the Act

Maggie listened at the door until Fiorello hung up, then walked in.

"Why aren't you asleep?" Fiorello asked, looking a bit guilty. He quickly helped her to the sofa and put a pillow behind her.

He was worried she might've overheard his call.

"Is work really busy?" Maggie asked, sitting down. "Who were you talking to? Was it Brian? I heard something about a private detective. Are you hiding something?"

Fiorello squatted beside her, smiling slightly. "Yeah, the company has some new projects. Let me feel the baby."

He placed his hand on her belly, his eyes soft. "I hope the baby isn't giving you too much trouble."

Maggie looked at him, knowing he was dodging the detective topic. Pressing him would just cause tension.

She stroked her belly. "I feel uneasy tonight."

"Maybe you're just tired. Come on, I'll take you to bed," Fiorello said, helping her up. "I'll stay home with you tomorrow. Let Holden handle the company."

Hearing this, Maggie felt reassured. "Then I'll have Ariel make your favorite roast tomorrow."

"Sounds good."

The next day, Maggie slept in. When she woke up, Fiorello was still beside her, reading.

Seeing her awake, he put down his book. "Want me to have Ariel bring some food up?"

"Let's wait. I just want to lie here a bit longer." It was already ten, but she didn't want to move. She snuggled closer, holding his arm. "Honey, I don't want to eat."

Her voice was soft and a bit playful. Maybe it was the pregnancy hormones making her clingy.

Every day, she looked forward to his return. The sound of his car pulling in always lifted her spirits.

Fiorello enjoyed her dependence. He stroked her hair. "Once the baby is born, I'll make every day enjoyable for you."

Maggie blushed, realizing he was hinting at something more. She playfully hit him. "You're so naughty."

Fiorello laughed, kissing her deeply. "You're my good wife."

"I love you," he said, smoothing her hair. "After the baby, we'll have a proper wedding and honeymoon. I'll make up for everything, Maggie. I want to give you the best."

"You're so domineering," she said, hugging his waist. "We don't need a wedding. They're expensive and a hassle. But the honeymoon, we can do that. I'm just worried we won't want to leave the baby."

Maggie didn't want a wedding also because Kimberly didn't approve of her. No need to make the Flores family uncomfortable.

A wedding was just a formality. Their love was what mattered.

"Silly woman," Fiorello said, kissing her forehead, nose, lips, and collarbone.

Just then, the door opened.

"Maggie, still in bed? I brought some new coffee beans safe for pregnant women," Isabella said, walking in. She saw them entwined and her face soured.

Isabella hadn't expected Fiorello to still be home and caught them in an intimate moment.

She quickly smiled and teased, "Sorry, I didn't see anything. Carry on."

She closed the door, her smile vanishing, clutching the coffee beans tightly.

Inside, Maggie blushed, not expecting Isabella to catch them. She gently pushed Fiorello. "Get up."
