Chapter 256 Riding in a Luxury Car
Before everyone came into this world, they were eagerly anticipated by others.
Linda remembered when she was pregnant with Laura, her first child, and naturally, she was delighted.
Unfortunately, she gave birth to a daughter.
The deep-rooted preference for boys over girls in the family made her daughter unwelcome, and Linda suffered a lot because of it.
Linda transferred the unfair treatment she received at home to her daughter, harboring resentment towards her.
Linda didn't like this daughter, and when she later had a son, all her attention was on her son.
Laura dropped out of school early and was kicked out to earn money to support the family and put her brother through school.
As Laura earned more money outside and sent more back home, their lives improved.
They habitually exploited their daughter to have a better life without caring about how she was doing or where the money came from.
Linda was ashamed and couldn't speak, while Mario justified, "She's a girl, and she's the older sister, so she must help her brother. It's very normal in our culture. We rely on our son in the future, not on her."
"Yes, she's dead, so you can't rely on her," Maggie was very angry. "Are you so comfortable spending the money she earned with her life?"
At this point, Loren also said, "Laura is your daughter. What you're doing is heartbreaking. By the way, Laura advanced $30,000 with me before. As her parents, you should repay that money now."
"Why should we give you the money back?" Linda said, "Her debts have nothing to do with us. Anyway, we won't take the body today. If you don't compensate us, we won't leave Cyberland. We'll expose you to the media."
With that, Laura's parents left.
Knowing they wouldn't get any benefit today, they left first.
Loren from Happy Pub shook his head in regret. "I can't believe there are such heartless parents."
Maggie was angry and disheartened for Laura, but there was little she could do.
Laura's parents decided not to take the body until their son's wedding and to demand a sum of money, as they wouldn't have a source of income otherwise and couldn't survive.
With their son's cash not available yet, they had to make the club pay.
When Maggie left the police station, she was feeling low and didn't notice what was ahead. Suddenly, a car honked, bringing her back to reality.
At the police station entrance, Fiorello's car was parked by the roadside. He had heard that Maggie was at the police station and rushed over.
He did not even have the time to change his car; he was driving a Rolls-Royce.
Maggie looked surprised at Fiorello sitting in the car. "What are you doing here? And this car?"
She had seen this car before at the Sercial Guild Hall.
"This is the boss's car; I borrowed it." Fiorello opened the door. "Maggie, get in."
Maggie glanced at the driver in the driver's seat and got into the car, somewhat embarrassed.
This car was said to be worth millions of dollars.
It was her first time in such a luxurious car, and the interior was truly different, exuding the scent of money everywhere.
The driver had been with Fiorello for many years and was very astute; he wouldn't speak out of turn. Starting the car, he focused on his job.
Maggie lowered her voice and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I heard you were at the police station, so I came to check on you," Fiorello held her hand and asked, "What did the police want from you?"
"An old friend committed suicide by jumping off a building. The police called me in for questioning..." Maggie explained the situation and said indignantly, "Laura's parents are really infuriating, exploiting their daughter to benefit their son."
