Chapter 695 Bad for the Baby

Hearing the scolding, Maggie quickly walked in. It was Katie who was crying, and Adalia stood nearby, looking very angry with her fists clenched.

Seeing the situation, Celine, who was accompanying them, worried that Adalia might lose her temper like last time, quickly pulled Adalia into her arms.

Maggie asked, "What's going on, Mom?"

Fiorello also came in.

Eleanor said angrily, "Adalia spilled water on Katie, and her little hand is all red from the burn. Luckily, the water wasn't too hot. If it had been, she could have been seriously hurt."

Katie's hand was indeed red from the burn.

Fiorello frowned, "Mom, please say less. We'll take care of the baby."

With other people around, several high-society ladies, Fiorello didn't say much more and took the children away.

Maggie felt uncomfortable hearing Eleanor scold Adalia. Even if Adalia did spill water on Katie, it was her place to discipline her, not someone else's.

She could discipline, scold, or even spank her child, but she wouldn't allow others to do so.

Fiorello took them to the lounge first. Maggie asked with concern, "Adalia, are you hurt?"

Adalia shook her head and looked at her sister in Maggie's arms, showing a guilty expression.

Fiorello asked Celine, "Ms. Hughes, what happened just now?"

With so many people around earlier, Fiorello couldn't pursue the matter.

Celine said, "It wasn't Adalia who spilled the water. Eleanor put the water on the table, and Mrs. Baker walked by and knocked over the cup. Adalia and I were passing by, and Adalia might have seen the cup about to fall on Katie, so she ran to catch it but didn't manage to. The water still spilled into the stroller."

The cup had been placed right next to the stroller.

After Eleanor put the water on the table, she went to her bag to find something and didn't notice.

So Adalia was wronged.

Hearing Celine's account, Maggie felt especially sorry for Adalia, realizing she had been wronged.

Adalia felt guilty because she thought she hadn't protected her sister well.

Katie's hand was a little red, and her clothes were wet.

Maggie hugged Adalia, "Adalia, you did great."

Fiorello also praised Adalia, "You're a good big sister. Mommy and Daddy are very happy."

Adalia immediately felt less wronged and gestured: [Mommy, Daddy, I will protect my siblings.]

Meanwhile, Eleanor was still angry, thinking about Adalia's recklessness.

Someone next to her asked, "Eleanor, was that child just now the one your daughter-in-law had before?"

This question made Eleanor very embarrassed. She hadn't thought much of it before, but now these words felt harsh.

Eleanor forced a smile, "Yes."

"That child is really good-looking. I noticed her dress is custom-made and quite expensive. Your family really dotes on her."

Vanessa Diaz, who had knocked over the cup earlier, said, "So what if you dote on her? She's not your biological child. Eleanor, I think that child has a cruel heart. She looked really scary when she was angry just now. She used to be the only child and was spoiled. Now, with siblings, be careful that she doesn't get jealous and treat them badly. She almost scalded someone with hot water just now. Who knows what she'll do in the future?"

Vanessa clearly knew she had knocked over the cup but didn't dare admit it, so she blamed Adalia.

Vanessa exaggerated, saying the water was boiling when it wasn't very hot.

Eleanor thought about how if it had been boiling water, her little granddaughter would have been seriously burned.

Could Adalia really be jealous and resent the two little babies? Would she harm them?
