Chapter 377 Emily Sanchez
The little girl's words ignited a fierce fury within the man, who stood gripping a mop. He jabbed it towards her, seething, "You think you're something special, do you? Looking down on me, your supposed father. Very well, then go seek your real parents. See how far that gets you. You're out of control."
Emily's response was swift and unyielding, "I will find them. I don't need you in my life." With that, she stormed towards the elevator, her anger fueling her steps.
Realizing the gravity of her words, the man rushed to intercept her, gripping her arm tightly. "Emily Sanchez, you're pushing your luck. I'll give you a taste of what's coming if you don't behave."
He pretended to hit her with the mop to scare her but didn't actually do it.
Emily screamed, "Child abuse! Paul Sanchez is abusing a child!"
Hearing her name, Maggie realized this was the child Gavin had mentioned.
Seeing such a disobedient girl, Maggie was surprised.
This temper was really something.
Maggie tried to calm Paul down. "I..."
Before she could finish, Paul dragged Emily back inside and slammed the door, not even noticing Maggie.
Dulce was shocked too. "Maggie, is that your daughter? Her temper is really something."
She was about the same age as Adalia, but their personalities were worlds apart. One was well-behaved and gentle, the other had a terrible temper.
"I'm shocked too." Maggie rang the doorbell again. After a while, Paul opened the door, and Maggie quickly said, "Hello, Mr. Sanchez, I'm Maggie. I need to talk to you. Can we chat?"
"Who are you? What do you want?" Paul, also with a bad temper, scrutinized Maggie and Dulce.
Maggie didn't want to explain her purpose directly, fearing a misunderstanding since the child's identity wasn't clear yet.
"I was introduced by Mr. Rowe, the dean of the South Road Orphanage."
Hearing Gavin's name, Paul's expression changed slightly. After hesitating, he said, "Come in and talk."
"Okay, thank you." Maggie nodded and entered with Dulce.
Emily stood angrily in the living room corner. Paul shouted, "Go to your room! What are you looking at? Until your parents come to get you, you're my daughter. Behave yourself."
"My parents will come for me. Paul, you poor man, you're not fit to be my dad," Emily shouted and went back to her room.
Maggie frowned and asked, "Mr. Sanchez, is she always like this?"
"Today is actually better. Usually, she causes so much trouble the house almost burns down. She always wants to find her real parents, complaining I can't give her a good life."
Glancing at Maggie, Paul lit a cigarette and said, "Mr. Rowe called me. If you want to take the child, I have no objections. The sooner, the better, so I can have some peace."
Maggie hadn't expected Paul to be so straightforward. He hadn't even verified her identity and was already willing to let her take the child.
Dulce said, "Mr. Sanchez, isn't this a bit hasty? We need to do a DNA test."
"Do whatever you want." Paul was impatient, looking at Maggie. "If you really are her mother, take her away quickly. Raising a child is a headache."
Maggie quickly said, "It must be hard for you. This child is indeed troublesome. Mr. Sanchez, let's do a DNA test first. Once the results are out, we can discuss the next steps."
"Whatever." Paul seemed indifferent, eager to get rid of Emily.
Emily overheard their conversation and got excited. She peeked through the door crack at Maggie on the sofa. 'Is this beautiful lady my mom?'
Emily, with a look of premature shrewdness, scrutinized Maggie.
Although she didn't recognize any brand names, Maggie was well-dressed and beautiful, much better than her foster parents.
"Mom," Emily rushed out, ran to Maggie, grabbed her hand, and excitedly said, "Mom, you are my mom. You've come to get me. Mom, let's leave now. I really don't want to stay here."
Maggie hadn't planned on taking Emily away immediately.
Hearing Emily call her mom, Maggie felt unease instead of joy.
Maggie didn't know how to respond. The little girl shook Maggie's hand, "Mom, take me away. I want to live with you."
