Chapter 120 Plagiarism

Everyone turned their attention to Lily, she now held Maggie's fate in her hands.

Seeing Lily's grim expression, Selena felt a sense of satisfaction. She thought to herself, ‘How could Maggie possibly have appeased such a difficult and influential client in just three hours?’

Selena was convinced that Maggie had lost the bet and was certain she would be leaving the company.

"Ms. Cook, if Maggie's design doesn't meet your expectations, I can create a necklace that will satisfy you," she offered.

Lily glanced at Selena, her tone dripping with arrogance. "With your level of skill, it's a mystery how you became the chief designer. The jewelry design department at Visionary Futures Group should consider a personnel change. Your designs lack creativity. The pieces you create are not up to my standards. Even a child could do better."

Selena felt publicly humiliated, unable to hide her embarrassment. She forced a smile and said, "Ms. Cook, perhaps you didn't express your desires earlier." She was trying to shift the blame onto Lily.

Ignoring her, Lily walked over to Maggie and returned the design sketches. "I've decided to go with this one. I hope to see the finished product as soon as possible."

Hearing Lily's words, everyone present was shocked because they couldn't believe that Maggie satisfied the demanding Lily.

The chief designer's creations were scorned by Lily, comparing them to drawings by children, yet she approved Maggie's designs. The irony was palpable!

Selena couldn't control her emotions, her expression turning sour as she snatched the design sketches. She was eager to see what kind of design Maggie had come up with to please Lily.

Upon seeing the sketches, Selena was incredulous and looked at Maggie. "Is this your design? It's so simple."

Maggie's pendant design for the necklace was deemed too simplistic and mundane compared to Selena's previous luxurious and intricate design. Selena was unhappy and thought to herself, 'How could such a simple necklace satisfy Lily?'

Maggie replied calmly, "Sometimes, simplicity is the purest form of expression. Just like love, simple, sober, and without reason." Her words, directed at Lily, revealed Lily's true nature.

Lily couldn't wait to see the finished necklace and asked Maggie, "How long will it take for me to receive the necklace?"

"If you're willing to pay extra for expedited service, it can be ready in a month," Maggie replied. "Ms. Cook, I haven't discussed the price for this necklace yet."

"There's nothing I can't afford in this world," Lily scoffed. "Just make it custom-made, and don't worry about the cost. Deliver it to my home in a month. And remember, this necklace must be exclusively tailored for me. There can only be one in the entire world."

Maggie smiled and said, "No problem. Goodbye, Ms. Cook."

Lily didn't press Maggie further and left contentedly. Though she was unaware of Maggie's background, David had advised her not to confront Maggie directly.

Lily always heeded David's advice. Moreover, David and George had already apologized to Maggie. Even though Lily was stubborn, she was not foolish. Her visit to the company to see Maggie was merely an act of frustration and defiance. However, Maggie's design managed to capture her attention, altering her perception of Maggie.

After Lily left, Emily cheered, "Maggie, you're amazing! You managed to please Lily, the most difficult client. Now, who dares to say you're not cut out for jewelry design?"

Her words were directed at Selena. Selena's expression darkened, and the other colleagues refrained from showing too much admiration for Maggie in Selena's presence. Gritting her teeth, Selena said to Maggie, "Don't get too cocky. This time, you just got lucky. You did make Lily satisfied, but that doesn't mean you are a qualified jewelry designer."

Maggie responded calmly, "You're right. I still have much to learn. I look forward to your guidance in the future." Maggie's humility was genuine. This time, she had succeeded by understanding Lily's desires. Her journey in jewelry design was far from over.

Selena left angrily. Emily remarked as she watched Selena's back, "She can't accept her shortcomings and refuses to acknowledge others' superiority."

"Emily, Selena must have some exceptional qualities to become the chief designer," Maggie replied.

Emily scoffed, "Her exceptional quality is exploiting her subordinates. She hasn't produced any original designs in a long time. I heard she even became the chief designer by plagiarizing a college student's work."

Maggie was unaware of these allegations. Just as she was about to respond, Fiorello's phone call interrupted her.
