Chapter 401 The Plan Failed
Maggie called Paul and set up a meeting at the café by the hospital. She also rang Gavin from the orphanage.
Without questioning Gavin, she said, "Thanks, Mr. Rowe, for your help in finding my daughter. I've found her now, and I really appreciate it."
Gavin replied with a smile, "Congrats! Emily is your daughter, right?"
"No," Maggie said calmly. "My daughter is someone else. It was a coincidence that led me to her. I did a paternity test with Emily, and she's not my daughter. I've already called Mr. Sanchez and will send Emily back soon."
Gavin was momentarily stunned. He'd been assured Maggie would believe Emily was her daughter. How could the paternity test show otherwise?
Gavin didn't know where the mistake was, but it wasn't his problem. He was just supposed to contact Maggie and introduce Emily. The rest wasn't his concern.
"Congrats again," Gavin said cheerfully. "It was just a small effort on my part. Now that you've found your child, your wish has come true."
"Yes, thank you, Mr. Rowe. I'll thank you personally later," Maggie replied politely.
"Alright." After hanging up, Gavin wiped the sweat from his forehead and thought for a while. He then called Gregory Flores. "Mr. Flores, Ms. Miller just called. She said the paternity test showed Emily isn't her daughter, and she's already found her real daughter."
Gregory was shocked. "That's impossible. Are you sure Maggie told you that? The paternity test showed she wasn't?"
"Yes, she just called me. I informed you right away, Mr. Flores."
Gregory was stunned. He'd bribed the testing agency, so the result should have shown Emily was Maggie's daughter. His plan was for Emily to cause chaos in the Flores family, but now it had failed.
Gregory immediately called the testing agency to confirm. Just as he hung up with Gavin, Brian showed up at Gavin's office.
Brian placed a gun on Gavin's desk. "Talk. Who told you to do this with Emily? Think carefully before you answer. You only get one chance."
Gavin turned pale with fear. "Who are you?"
Brian loaded the gun, placed his hand on the trigger, and pointed it at Gavin's forehead. "This is a silenced gun. Countless people have died from it."
"It was Gregory," Gavin stammered. "It was all Gregory's idea."
With the answer, Brian put away the gun and called Fiorello. "Mr. Flores, I found out. It was Gregory who orchestrated it."
Fiorello was surprised. Gregory's influence had reached his family.
"Got it," Fiorello said coldly. "Track Gregory's movements."
"Yes, Mr. Flores," Brian replied.
Meanwhile, Gregory was in his office, unaware Fiorello was onto him. He called the agency to confirm, and the result was correct.
'If the result is correct, then what went wrong?' Gregory wondered. "How could this happen?"
"Gregory, did you get the results today for the task I gave you?" Jenny asked, walking in.
Gregory shrugged. "Maggie found her biological daughter. The plan failed."
"How is that possible?" Jenny asked. "Who is her biological daughter? Didn't you arrange everything? How could it go wrong?"
"I don't know either," Gregory sneered. "Even though we didn't get Emily into the Flores family, Maggie found her real daughter. The effect is the same. You should talk more to Kimberly. The Flores family has strict rules, and Kimberly will never accept Maggie's biological daughter. When that happens, the Flores family will erupt into chaos."
