Chapter 171 A Hunger of a Different Kind

James found himself in a state of reluctance, unable to let go of the three houses in question. "The properties in Cyberland are worth several million dollars. Who in their right mind would willingly relinquish them?" he pondered aloud. Seated by the sterile hospital bed, he anxiously ran his hands through his hair, the weight of his predicament heavy on his shoulders.Ava chimed in once more, her voice laced with a cunning plan. "I will apologize to Isabella. I will confess that it was I who pressured you into fathering a child with another woman. It was my mistake. All you need to do is comfort Isabella. You don't need to do anything else. When she returns, you two can try IVF to have a child. With a child, this family won't fall apart."

Ava's scheme was shrewd. As long as she could control Isabella, losing three houses was not a big matter.

James's reputation was tarnished, and his inability to have children meant that finding another wife in the future would be a daunting task. Thus, seeking Isabella's forgiveness seemed like the best course of action.Meanwhile, Maggie had stayed with Isabella until the late hours of the night before making her way home. Isabella, having hailed a taxi to take her home, offered Maggie a word of advice at the entrance of Cityhomes West. "Maggie, learn from my experiences. Don't trust men too easily. Even if they are your husband, you never truly know their character until the critical moment arrives."

Isabella's trust in men had been shattered, and Maggie understood her sentiments all too well."I understand. Go home and rest well. Don't overthink things. Call me if you need anything," Maggie assured her. Isabella nodded, promising to help Maggie discern whether Fiorello was also a jerk when she had the time. With a small smile, Maggie turned and walked towards Cityhomes West.By the time Maggie reached home, it was already one in the morning. She hadn't received any messages from Fiorello and was unsure if he had returned. However, as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Fiorello just arriving home, fumbling with the door. Seeing him filled her with a sense of joy. "You're just getting home now?" she asked, a hint of surprise in her voice.Fiorello, equally surprised, thought Maggie was already home. "Why are you coming back so late?" he asked, concern lacing his words. "Something happened with Isabella, so I went to keep her company for a while," she explained. After entering their home and changing shoes in the hallway, Maggie recounted the night's events to Fiorello.Fiorello remained silent, processing the information. For him, it was someone else's business. "If you have time, try to comfort and advise Isabella. But remember, you must ensure that their marriage doesn't affect you." He warned, "After all, a bad marriage can make people lose trust in marriage."

Maggie smiled at his words. "How insecure are you about yourself and our marriage?" she teased.Fiorello, wrapping his arms around her and pinching her nose affectionately, responded with a playful glint in his eyes. "I'm very confident in my stamina, Honey, do you want to try?"

Maggie rolled her eyes at his audacity, breaking free from his embrace. "I'm going to take a shower, and I'm taking a break from our marital duties today," she declared.Fiorello, ever the tease, followed her with a smile. "Let's shower together. The country promotes water conservation, we should be good citizens."

Maggie shook her head, a helpless smile on her face. "Fiorello, you're shameless."

He defended himself, "We have a marriage certificate, this is just playful, not shameless behavior." Despite their intimate relationship, Maggie still felt shy about showering together and quickly closed the bathroom door behind her. While Maggie showered, Fiorello retreated to the study to work on a project. After her shower, Maggie saw him engrossed in his work and decided not to disturb him. "I'm going to sleep, I'm too tired, I have to work tomorrow," she informed him.

"Okay, you go to sleep. I'll be there soon," he responded, his focus still on his work. Maggie drifted off to sleep, not knowing when she fell asleep. That night, Fiorello didn't disturb her, choosing instead to simply hold her as they slept. The next day, Maggie woke up on time to prepare breakfast, water the plants on the balcony, and tidy up the house. She reveled in the satisfaction of their simple and warm life together. Fiorello, true to his routine, woke up early for a run and exercise. If Fiorello was making breakfast, Maggie would also rise early to jump rope, break a sweat, and stay energized for the day ahead.Fiorello had recently developed a liking for coffee; if he didn't exercise, his abs would disappear.

"Fiorello, breakfast is ready," Maggie called out, a smile on her face as she brought out the meal.

Fiorello had just finished running on the treadmill in the study, still shirtless, his eight-pack abs and abdominal muscles on full display. Recalling Emily's words, Maggie's cheeks suddenly flushed. 'Fiorello looks muscular when shirtless, but slim and powerful when dressed, exuding a sense of strength that easily makes one fantasize about testing his endurance.'"Honey, are you blushing?" His deep, enticing voice suddenly sounded in her ear.

'Every time he calls me Honey, it's so enticing, it instantly ignites a fire in my heart.'

Maggie glared at him, feigning annoyance. "I just feel a bit hot coming out of the kitchen," she claimed.

Fiorello grinned, deliberately flaunting his shirtless form in front of her.

Maggie said, "Go take a shower."

He responded, "Eat first, then I'll shower, I'm hungry."

His use of the word "hungry" seemed to carry a suggestive undertone.
