Chapter 366 Manslaughter
At the hospital, Maggie would get sleepy after eating, but her bloated lower abdomen made it hard to sleep and left her irritable.
Maggie tossed and turned, and Fiorello noticed. He woke up, put his arm over her abdomen, and asked, "What's wrong? Where does it hurt?"
Maggie curled up and said, "My lower abdomen is bloated and uncomfortable."
Bloating during pregnancy was normal.
Fiorello kissed her cheek and said, "You're doing great, honey."
He couldn't fix the bloating but could lift her spirits.
That kiss made Maggie feel better. They lay facing each other.
Maggie cupped his face, kissed him passionately, and smiled. "I feel much better now."
Fiorello smiled, touched her head, and looked at her deeply. "Maggie, having you is enough for me."
Maggie closed her eyes, nuzzled his chest, and said, "I know you're worried about me. I think about our baby every day, whether it's a handsome boy like you or a cute girl. If it's a girl, we'll call her Little Candy. If it's a boy..."
"We'll call him Little Rascal," Fiorello said with a smile. "This little guy is making you suffer, so he's a Little Rascal."
Maggie laughed. "No one talks about their son like that."
He laughed and held her close, his chin on her head. "Maggie, I'm scared. I'm scared of losing you."
At that moment, he wasn't a billionaire, just a husband who loved his wife.
"We'll bring this baby into the world safely." Maggie was hopeful. "Once we get through seven months, everything will be fine."
Fiorello wanted to say she didn't need to risk her life; he just wanted her. But he swallowed the words.
Maggie was hopeful, and he couldn't let her down.
"Go to sleep," Fiorello kissed her forehead. He had started handing over company matters to Holden to focus on Maggie.
"Okay."
Maggie closed her eyes. Just as she was about to fall asleep, the phone rang.
The sudden ringing startled her. She propped herself up and said, "Fiorello, can you get my phone and see who's calling?"
Fiorello got up, took the phone from the bedside table, and handed it to Maggie.
"Olivia?" Maggie was surprised. "Why is Olivia calling so late?"
Maggie answered, curious.
Olivia's panicked voice came through. "Maggie, please help Isabella. She was just taken by the police."
Olivia was crying on the phone.
Maggie got nervous. "Taken by the police? What happened?"
Olivia explained briefly. Isabella had a conflict with James, who fell from the second floor and was taken by ambulance. The Anderson family called the police, and Isabella was taken too.
Olivia asked Maggie for help, hoping Fiorello could bail Isabella out.
It was almost midnight, and Olivia kept pleading. Maggie couldn't refuse. She looked at Fiorello, who nodded. Maggie then told Olivia, "Okay, Olivia, don't worry. Fiorello will go."
After hanging up, Maggie said worriedly, "Olivia said the Anderson family wants to charge Isabella with negligent injury. James is seriously hurt. If he doesn't make it, it could be worse. Isabella might end up in jail."
Fiorello said, "I'll check it out. You get some rest. I'll be back soon."
"Okay."
