Chapter 739 Registering for Marriage
Fiorello made it clear that he wanted to go out alone, and Melissa naturally understood his intention.
Melissa considerately said, "Alright, come back early for lunch. Call me if you need anything. I know you've been unhappy since you got sick, but it's okay. I'll be here to help you find those shared memories of ours."
Every word from Melissa was so gentle and considerate. She even took off the scarf from her neck and put it on Fiorello. "Even though it's spring, it rained last night, and it's still very cold. Don't catch a cold. You had an injury on your neck before, so you need to protect it."
Fiorello stood there, letting Melissa put the scarf on him, his gaze fixed on her. This scene felt familiar, giving him a sense of déjà vu.
Before he lost his memory, when Fiorello went to work, Maggie often helped him with his tie.
But Fiorello couldn't remember that now; he just felt that Melissa's actions gave him a sense of familiarity.
It was the first time in a long while that he found a sense of familiarity in Melissa, which made him feel less uneasy.
"Are you driving? Should I give you the car keys?" Melissa thoughtfully took out the car keys. "You can drive around."
"No need, I'll just walk around the neighborhood." Fiorello put his hands in his coat pockets, with the scarf around his neck, looking elegant and gentlemanly.
Melissa respected Fiorello's wishes and let him go out alone.
She stood at the door to see him off. After he left, Desmond worriedly said, "Melissa, is it safe for Fiorello to go out alone? What if he remembers something?"
Desmond had already considered Fiorello as his own son and naturally referred to him as such.
"Follow him, but don't get too close. If anything unusual happens, act accordingly and report to me immediately," Melissa said, switching from her earlier gentle tone to a commanding one. "If you want to keep this son, you know what to do."
Desmond nodded, "Understood."
Melissa asked him, "If you get discovered, what will you say?"
Desmond replied, "I'll say I'm worried about my son and followed him out of concern. It's reasonable and has nothing to do with Miss Melissa."
Melissa smiled with satisfaction and said, "Go ahead."
This was why Melissa had Desmond follow him. Even if discovered, it would just be a father's concern for his son, and Fiorello wouldn't suspect her.
Melissa was also worried that Fiorello might resent her for this. Since bringing Fiorello back, she had been careful to listen to him and not let him go out alone to meet anyone, fearing his identity would be discovered.
Melissa sat alone on the sofa in the villa's living room, constantly worried and unable to focus on anything else.
"Melissa," Timothy came in from outside. "Why is it so quiet? Is he not here?"
Timothy didn't dare to call Fiorello by name, fearing that Fiorello might hear and become suspicious.
Melissa said, "He's not here; he went out."
"He went out alone?" Timothy panicked. "Melissa, how could you let him go out alone? What if he remembers something? Then we're done for."
Hiding Fiorello in this villa and concealing his identity, Timothy lived in constant fear of being discovered.
"I had Desmond follow him," Melissa said. "It's been over a month, and he hasn't remembered anything. It seems unlikely he'll ever regain his memory. Even though he's lost his memory, I can tell he doesn't fully trust what I say. To gain his trust, I had to agree to let him go out alone once."
Melissa was taking a risk, and she knew it, but she had no choice.
Timothy sat down and sighed, "Melissa, I don't understand why you keep him around, making us live in constant fear. When I left earlier, Dad asked me what you've been up to lately and why you haven't been home much. I just made up an excuse."
Melissa smiled and said, "Timothy, that's Fiorello. Such a risk is worth taking. Recently, I've been letting him get involved in our company's business. He's given me a lot of advice. Fiorello is a business genius. Even though he's lost his memory, the knowledge in his mind is invaluable. With his help, our company will become stronger."
Timothy said worriedly, "I know he's very capable, but that's exactly why I'm worried he'll be discovered sooner or later."
"Since we've already done this, there's no turning back," Melissa said with a smile. "I plan to register our marriage."
