Chapter 523 The Calm Before the Storm

No matter if she could see Mark or not, Arya had to go, otherwise, she wouldn't feel at ease.

Even if she had no other intentions, she had a relationship when she was young. When Maggie had an accident last time, Mark didn't give up on her, which made Arya feel very comforted.

Maggie still bought Arya a ticket for the next day. Adalia had to go to school, and Maggie couldn't leave, so only Arya could go first.

Early the next morning, after Maggie sent Adalia to school, she took Arya to the airport.

Maggie reminded Arya, "Mom, call me as soon as you get there if you need anything."

Arya said, "Okay, you take care of yourself at home too. Don't overwork yourself. It's the change of seasons, so make sure to adjust Adalia's clothes accordingly. Be careful not to catch a cold."

"Got it."

As it was almost time to board, Arya took her luggage and went through security.

After seeing Arya off, Maggie took a cab back and called Dulce on the way.

Her van had broken down and Dulce had taken it to the repair shop, so she had to go pick it up.

Dulce was already at the shop. When she got Maggie's call, she said, "The repair bill is already paid, Maggie. I wanted Francis to fix it, but he couldn't. I even helped him solve a case for free, and he didn't even buy me a cup of coffee. Now he wants me to go to the police station this afternoon to help him again. I'm telling you, Maggie, Francis is too much. He treats me like a police dog, asking me to sniff around for him."

Maggie didn't say anything, just listened to Dulce rant about Francis for ten minutes.

Maggie really didn't know that Francis had gone out to look for her that night.

When Dulce finally finished, Maggie had already arrived at the repair shop. She laughed and said, "Then you should ask Francis for a salary. With your dog-like sense of smell, the police department might make an exception and hire you. Then you'd have a steady job."

Dulce laughed over the phone, "So I'd be classified as a police dog? Would they pay me a salary or give me dog food?"

Maggie teased, "I don't know about the salary, but on my way here, I am envious of you. Dulce, are you sure you aren't just showing off? You and Francis have such a connection; you shouldn't miss out."

"Stop it. That stiff and boring man is not my type," Dulce said. "I'd rather be single for life than fall for someone like Francis."

"Well, I'll wait and see what unfolds," Maggie laughed. "I'm picking up the car now. Thanks for the repair money. I'll treat you to coffee later. I appreciate your kindness, rich girl. I need to rely on you."

"That's the spirit. Don't be shy with me. My money is your money," Dulce said. "You've been secretly involved with Fiorello for so long. He doesn't give you any recognition or financial support?"

"He does, but I don't take it," Maggie joked. "I don't like relying on men; I prefer relying on women."

Dulce laughed, "Come on, when you're holding Fiorello, you never think of me. You're all about romance over friendship."

Every time Maggie chatted with Dulce, she felt particularly good, happy, and relaxed.

Having a friend like this in life was enough.

Maggie picked up the car and left the repair shop, heading to the market to restock. On her way back, she ran into Eleanor on the street.

Eleanor was walking aimlessly and almost got hit by a car.

Maggie quickly parked her car by the roadside and ran over, "Mom. "

Maggie quickly corrected herself, "Eleanor, are you okay?"

Eleanor was surprised to see Maggie and felt very complicated, "I'm fine. What are you doing here?"

"I am just passing by after restocking at the market," Maggie noticed Eleanor's ankle was scraped and said, "Eleanor, if you don't mind, get in the car. Your ankle is scraped and needs to be treated to avoid infection."

Eleanor looked at the changed Maggie and got into the car.

Ten minutes later, Maggie stopped in front of a pharmacy, went in to buy some medicine, and treated Eleanor's ankle. She said, "Eleanor, let me take you home."

Maggie could tell Eleanor was not in a good mood and was worried something else might happen.

Eleanor shook her head. "I don't want to go home. Maggie, can you take me for a drive?"

Maggie hesitated for a moment and nodded, "Okay."

After driving for a while, Eleanor suddenly asked, "Are you still with Fiorello?"
