Chapter 437 Agreeing to the Deal, Danger Looms
Hearing about the abortion pills, Ariel turned pale. She couldn't believe it.
"Mrs. Flores," Ariel stammered, "Did you mean for Maggie? She's pregnant. This can't be right."
Ariel was a mess, unable to understand why Kimberly wanted to abort her own great-grandchild.
Kimberly insisted, "Take it. This is to end the pregnancy. Ariel, you've been with the Flores family for years. Have I ever treated you badly? Now I need you to do this. Is that too much to ask?"
Kimberly had secretly come back from the countryside just for this.
"No," Ariel panicked, "Mrs. Flores, why? That's your great-grandchild. How can you do this?"
"The child is a Flores, which is why it has to be done," Kimberly said, looking pained. "Ariel, this is a family disgrace. I can't let Maggie have this baby. It would ruin us. The estate would go to someone else."
Ariel was shocked. "Maggie cheated?"
"Yes, I investigated it myself," Kimberly said. "Ariel, because of Maggie, Fiorello is distant. Maggie won't take what I give her, so you need to give her this medicine. No one will know. Just us."
"Mrs. Flores, I can't. It's not right," Ariel was terrified. Even if Maggie cheated, she couldn't harm a life.
A five-month-old baby was already formed.
Kimberly grabbed Ariel's hand, forcing the pills into it. "Ariel, you must do this. Your family needs twenty thousand dollars. If you agree, I'll give it to you now. Think about your daughter and husband."
Ariel was stunned. 'How does she know about my financial troubles?'
Ariel was torn. Kimberly's threats and bribes made her waver.
"Mrs. Flores, that's a baby, a person. I can't do it. If Mr. Flores finds out, he'll kill me." Ariel's courage faltered. "If Maggie cheated, tell him. You don't have to harm anyone."
"If Fiorello would listen, I wouldn't be doing this," Kimberly said, gripping Ariel's hand. "I'll give you a day to think. If you agree, I'll give you another twenty thousand after it's done. Do it discreetly, and no one will know. Think about your daughter. Take the pills."
With that, Kimberly left.
She had to rush back to the countryside. No one else could know she had been to Cyberland.
After Kimberly left, Ariel held the pills, her heart racing. She had never done anything against her conscience and couldn't start now.
But thinking about her troubles and Kimberly's words, Ariel was conflicted.
She didn't throw away the pills and went home with a heavy heart.
As soon as she entered, she heard Maggie's voice. "Ariel, where did you go?"
Feeling guilty, Ariel stammered, "I went out to buy something."
Maggie handed her a bottle of ointment. "Ariel, this is for your injury. I noticed you have a wound on your waist."
Ariel felt a pang of guilt.
"Thank you, Mrs. Flores." Ariel hesitated as she reached for the ointment, but accidentally dropped the abortion pills, which rolled to Maggie's feet.
Ariel's heart pounded violently.
