Chapter 61 Fiorello's Sweet Nothings

Samwise surveyed the room, his gaze filled with suspicion, as though he believed everyone present was conspiring against him.

"Samwise, you've lost your mind," Jane reproached, her voice heavy with disappointment. "We've been together for years, you know me better than anyone. How could you think I'd harm you? I invested in the firm alongside you, I put all my savings into it, and even sold my parents' house. How does that equate to harming you?"

"Then who? Who wants to hurt me?" Samwise muttered, his mind whirling. "My father's factory is in trouble too. It has to be someone framing me, it must be Maggie's lover."

Unable to think of any other suspects, Samwise's thoughts turned to Fiorello. He knew Fiorello was aware that his luxury car and mansion were rented. It was entirely plausible that Fiorello, out of jealousy, wanted to tarnish his reputation.

"Are you referring to Fiorello?" Jane queried, her brow furrowed in confusion.

"I had a disagreement with Fiorello yesterday. I filed a lawsuit against him, and shortly after, both the firm and the factory ran into problems. If it's not him, then who could it be?"

"But he's just an employee, could he really orchestrate something like this?" Jane questioned, skepticism lacing her words.

"Fiorello must have hired someone to dig into my life and expose my secrets," Samwise concluded. He hastily dialed the police station to inquire about Fiorello's whereabouts.

However, the response he received was that there was no record of such a person, not even a trace of the previous night's incident.

Upon hearing this, Samwise immediately understood that he had underestimated Fiorello.

Beyond Fiorello's name and company, he knew nothing about the man.

He had been careless.

"Jane, I need a favor. Go to the Visionary Futures Group R&D department and investigate Fiorello's background," Samwise instructed.

"Samwise, you're still obsessing over your jealousy of Fiorello. You should be focusing on how to salvage the firm. Your lawyer's license is at risk of being revoked, and the firm may cease to operate. We've poured millions into it, and it will all be for naught," Jane cautioned.

This was why Jane had sought out Samwise - to placate him, to save the firm. She had invested millions into it, and she couldn't bear to see it all go to waste.

Samwise's eyes turned a fierce shade of red as he declared, "None of that matters anymore. If I can't figure out who's out to get me, everything else is pointless. Go investigate Fiorello for me."

Jane was taken aback by his outburst but ultimately chose to heed Samwise's command.

No sooner had Jane departed when more creditors stormed into his house, demanding payment. The house was left in disarray after their aggressive search for valuables.

During the ensuing altercation, Samwise was assaulted by a debt collector, an act which terrified Sarah and prompted her to call the police.

...

Maggie had slept soundly, and she woke up early, eager to report to her new job.

Being her first day, she was unsure of what attire would be appropriate and found herself hesitating.

She presented several outfits to Fiorello for his opinion.

There were three dresses and a set of jeans paired with a shirt. Fiorello glanced over the options and selected the jeans and shirt, stating, "This set will do."

Maggie gestured to the clothes she was wearing and asked, "Won't this look too plain?"

Fiorello replied earnestly, "Not at all, it complements your skin tone."

Maggie laughed, "It's all covered up, except for my face. You can't see any other skin tone, so what's the point of it complementing anything?"

Fiorello was clearly stretching the truth, but Maggie understood his intentions. He didn't want others to focus on her figure.

Fiorello cleared his throat, "Wear this set today, and I'll buy you a few more in a couple of days."

Maggie chuckled and asked, "Fiorello, is it that all you men are like this? You like to see other people's wives wear as little as possible and your own wives wear as much as possible."

Fiorello smirked, "I don't know about others, I only look at my own wife. What do other people's wives have to do with me?"

His flirtatious words made Maggie feel as though every cell in her body was brimming with sweetness.
