Chapter 251 Suspicions About Adalia's Identity
That night, Maggie felt an unprecedented sense of ease, with no trace of guilt on her. She could face Fiorello openly.
Finally, she could sleep soundly.
The accompanying bed could only fit one person, so Maggie slept next to Adalia on the sickbed while Fiorello slept on the accompanying bed.
Watching Maggie and Adalia sleep peacefully, Fiorello smiled slightly. In fact, he did not have any infertility issues; everything was done to comfort Maggie.
In the past, he would never have believed that he would go to such lengths for a woman.
Even now, he was surprised by his own decision.
However, he had no regrets.
Seeing Maggie smile contentedly, seeing her let go of her emotional burdens and sleep peacefully, he felt it was all worth it.
This decision was also carefully considered by Fiorello. He didn't necessarily need children; having Maggie as his wife in this lifetime left him with no regrets.
As for the matter of the Flores family having children, that was left to Holden.
They adopted Adalia, and having Adalia as their daughter was enough.
Fiorello lay on his arm, his gaze shifting away from Maggie and Adalia, closing his eyes to rest.
The next day.
The sun rose, and the red spots on Adalia's body had disappeared.
It was a false alarm, and Maggie felt relieved. The family of three had breakfast in the ward.
Fiorello asked Maggie, "Do you want Adalia to stay for another day for observation, or should we go home for recovery?"
Before Maggie could respond, Adalia said, "Mom, I want to go home."
She didn't like hospitals; they were boring, and she was afraid of injections and medicine.
Children were often fearful of hospitals.
"Alright, let's go home then." Maggie smiled, patting Adalia's cheek, and said to Fiorello, "Go ask the doctor if she can be discharged. If she can, I'll take Adalia home."
Arya was still at home, unable to walk properly, and needed someone to look after her.
"Okay, you and Adalia wait here for a moment."
Fiorello sought out the attending doctor. Finding Adalia's condition perfectly suitable for discharge, he swiftly completed the necessary paperwork and escorted them home.
Once they arrived home, Maggie urged Fiorello to go to work and not worry about them.
There was an important meeting at the company, so Fiorello reminded Maggie a few times before heading to the office.
Shortly after Fiorello left, Eleanor arrived with gifts in hand.
"Arya, is your foot injury better?" Eleanor asked warmly. "I brought some supplements for you."
"You're too kind; this is too valuable." Arya saw the many supplements and hesitated to accept them, quickly saying, "We're family; you don't need to buy so many things."
"These were all gifts from others; we have too many at home and can't finish them. Just feel free to take them." Eleanor smiled.
Indeed, this was the case; all these items had been gifted by others, and the Flores family's warehouse was brimming with them—precious herbs, supplements, and an assortment of items.
Eleanor also brought a box of toys for Adalia. "Adalia, this is for you. Call me Grandma or Auntie."
Eleanor was afraid Maggie would suspect something, so she quickly changed her title.
Adalia happily exclaimed, "Grandma."
"Good kid." Eleanor really liked Adalia, for some reason feeling very fond of her after knowing Fiorello couldn't have biological children.
Eleanor asked, "Maggie, why does Adalia seem a bit weak?"
Maggie explained, "Adalia had an allergic reaction to onions last night and had to go to the hospital. We just returned from there."
"Adalia is also allergic to onions?" Eleanor was surprised, finding it quite a coincidence.
Maggie smiled and said, "Yes, so it must be fate. Both Adalia and Fiorello are allergic to onions."
"It's quite a coincidence." Eleanor looked at Adalia carefully again. If she didn't know this child was adopted, she would have thought she was Fiorello and Maggie's biological child.
This child bore a strong resemblance to Maggie and sometimes even resembled Fiorello.
Eleanor pulled Maggie aside and asked quietly, "Maggie, do you know who Adalia's biological parents are?"
