Chapter 479 A Single-Minded Pursuit of Death

Isabella's worry for Fiorello was written all over her face.

She never once asked about Maggie.

Dulce tried not to overthink, but Isabella's words got her mind racing.

Holden said, "Fiorello just got to the hospital. We don't know how he is yet. I need to go. Dulce, take Adalia home. The Flores family is a mess right now, and I can't handle it all."

When Adalia heard Fiorello was in the hospital, she started crying. "Uncle Holden, I want to see Dad. Is he going to die? I don't want Dad and Mom to die."

"Adalia, be good. I'm going to check on your dad. The doctors are really good; he'll be fine. Go home with your godmother, okay?" Holden, clearly stressed, turned to Dulce. "I need to get to the hospital. Please take care of Adalia."

Dulce took Adalia's hand and said, "Okay."

Isabella chimed in, "Holden, I'll go with you."

Holden, too frazzled to question her, just said, "Follow me in your car."

Dulce, holding Adalia, watched Isabella follow Holden, her mind heavy with worry.

Dulce didn't want to think too much about it. Isabella was Maggie's cousin; could she have feelings for Fiorello?

With everything going on, Dulce was more worried about Maggie and whether she'd come back safe. She couldn't afford to think too much.

Dulce picked up Adalia and said, "Adalia, let's go back to your grandma's home. You heard earlier, your mom will be fine. Be good."

Fiorello was rushed to the hospital's emergency room. The best surgeons in Cyberland were on the scene, and the hospital's top resources were being used to save him.

Joseph's hand needed over a dozen stitches, but it was handled quickly and wasn't a big deal.

Eleanor, looking anxious, was praying outside the emergency room. Benjamin was helping out too.

Inside, Fiorello regained some consciousness, muttering Maggie's name. She was the one he was most worried about.

The doctor leaned in to hear him. "Mr. Flores, what do you want to say?"

"Maggie, Maggie," Fiorello repeated.

The doctor got it and quickly walked out. Eleanor saw him and asked, "Doctor, how's my son?"

"The attending physician is doing everything they can. Mr. Flores kept calling out a name, Maggie. Who is Maggie?" The doctor said, "Mr. Flores has a very weak will to live. If he doesn't want to live, even the best doctor can't save him."

The doctor's words hit Eleanor hard, and she burst into tears.

As his mother, Eleanor understood Fiorello.

When Fiorello agreed to Joseph's terms, his spirit had already died.

Eleanor, choking up, said, "Doctor, tell Fiorello that we will spare Maggie only if he lives. If he dares to die, we won't spare Maggie either."

Eleanor hoped this would jolt Fiorello into wanting to live.

The doctor nodded. "Okay."

He went back in. By this time, Joseph had finished getting his wound treated and arrived, along with Holden and Isabella.

Joseph rushed over. "How's Fiorello?"

Eleanor, tears streaming down her face, said, "It's not good. The doctor said Fiorello kept calling Maggie's name. He wants to die. What has happened to the Flores family? Why is it like this?"

Hearing this, Joseph was stunned, like he'd aged ten years in an instant. He fell silent, his energy drained and quietly sat down on a nearby bench.

Isabella, hearing about Fiorello's deep feelings, looked at the closed emergency room door as if she could see into Fiorello's heart.

His heart would only open for Maggie. Now that this door was closed, it might never open again.

On the way here, Isabella had felt relieved that Fiorello was going to divorce Maggie. But now, she didn't know if she should feel relieved.
