Chapter 513 Fiorello's Intentions
Maggie shot Fiorello a look, "You're hooked on the thrill, aren't you? Think you can just throw money around and dodge responsibility?"
"I'll take responsibility for you forever." Fiorello pulled her close and planted a deep kiss on her. "Why didn't you take the money I gave you last time?"
"I want to leave your place with my dignity," Maggie said. "When I married you, I had nothing. I can't just walk away with billions after a divorce. It wouldn't be safe. I'd be too scared to sleep or go out, always worried about thieves."
"Silly girl," Fiorello gently brushed her hair aside. "If you miss me, just come over. The door code is your birthday. Once I sort out my grandmother's case, I'll give you the grand wedding you never had. Maggie, let's start fresh."
She knew he always wanted to give her a grand wedding.
Now that they were divorced and both single, it felt like a new beginning.
But Maggie hesitated. "Fiorello, we're from different worlds. If you can clear the case, I'll be happy. If you still want me, I'll be happy too. But I can't sneak around with you. I don't want to be Mrs. Flores again. Some class differences and societal prejudices are too deep. I'm content with how things are now."
Fiorello sighed, "I get it. I attracted too many bad romances. I'm just too amazing, and it's brought you some trouble."
Maggie thought, 'Is he saying this on purpose?'
Maggie glared at him, "You do attract a lot of women. Even if you're not interested, they still throw themselves at you. How did your handkerchief end up with Isabella?"
Maggie hadn't wanted to bring it up, but Fiorello's bragging made her respond.
"What handkerchief?" Fiorello genuinely didn't remember.
Such a small thing wouldn't even register with him.
He had so many handkerchiefs, regularly changing them, sometimes just tossing them aside. He didn't care about a single handkerchief.
Maggie teased, "Mr. Flores, please contain your irresistible charm."
Fiorello laughed, "Alright, I'll wear a mask when I go out. Once I train Holden to take over the company, I'll stay behind the scenes. Then I'll have more time to spend with you and our daughter."
Maggie said, "Your family is really strange. Other wealthy families' brothers fight for power, but you want to step back. Holden also wants to be a carefree rich guy. You two have less ambition than Gregory."
Ordinary people were always striving to reach the top, while people like Fiorello were thinking about how to enjoy life.
Fiorello smiled slightly, "Actually, the Flores brothers are all the same. If I weren't the eldest, I'd also want to be carefree. Gregory has no interest in taking over Visionary Futures Group either."
Maggie was surprised, "Why? Didn't he always oppose you? Now I hear he's planning to marry into the Holmes family. Isn't he teaming up with them to go against you and fight for the family fortune? That's how it always goes in the movies and TV shows."
Fiorello replied, "Then you should watch less TV. Not everyone craves power and fame. Gregory has his own abilities. If he wanted an easy life, he could have it. He doesn't care about Visionary Futures Group. He opposes me just to prove to my Dad that even as an illegitimate child, he's better than me."
Maggie said, "How do you know him so well?"
"Know yourself and your adversary," Fiorello said. "If Gregory were my mom's child, he would definitely be just like Holden, doing nothing and living a carefree life every day."
Maggie curiously asked, "Will he marry Jenny?"
"No."
"But Jenny is pregnant with his child, and the wedding date is set."
"Gregory will definitely rebel at the last moment. He takes pleasure in making Dad unhappy. I'm quite looking forward to what Gregory will do at the wedding." A chilling coldness settled in Fiorello's eyes. "Let's give Jenny two more months. I'll look for evidence that Jenny killed my grandmother."
