Chapter 385 Chaos
Emily's reaction made Fiorello frown.
Maggie quickly asked, "Emily, how did you find this place? Did you come alone? Does your dad know?"
"Paul's not my dad," Emily said proudly. "I took a cab here by myself. Paul tried to stop me, but I didn't let him."
These harsh words were surprising for a kid under five.
Maggie frowned and told Fiorello, "This is the child I mentioned."
Fiorello thought the child was rude, but knowinging she might be Maggie's daughter, he stayed quiet.
Maggie continued, "She ran away. I'll call her dad and send her back."
Emily started crying. "Mom, don't you want me? I don't want to go back. Paul isn't my dad. I want to stay with you."
Maggie, unsure what to do, decided to keep her for now.
Fiorello said, "Let's go inside."
Emily followed them in. As the door closed, Susan, who had been hiding, emerged, staring at Maggie's door. 'It's really Maggie's daughter.' she mused.
'My son is lost, and now Maggie has a daughter.' The more Susan thought about it, the more upset she got.
Inside, Maggie called Paul. He had been searching for Emily and was about to call the police.
When he heard she was at Maggie's, Paul angrily said, "I've wasted my time raising her. If she's gone, she shouldn't come back," and hung up.
Maggie wasn't prepared for Emily's sudden arrival.
Just then, Adalia woke up and came out. "Mommy, Daddy."
Adalia had a nightmare and came out without shoes.
Fiorello quickly picked her up. "Sweetheart, why are you barefoot? The floor is cold."
"Daddy, I had a nightmare," Adalia said softly.
Seeing another girl her age, Emily got jealous. "Mom, who is she? Is she your daughter too?"
Emily didn't like Adalia at first sight.
Maggie explained, "Her name is Adalia. She's my daughter. You two are about the same age."
"I don't like her," Emily yelled possessively. "Mom can only have one child, and that's me."
Fiorello frowned. "No shouting."
Emily started crying again, hiding behind Maggie. "Mom, Mom."
Maggie had a headache. Adalia, confused by Emily's appearance, clung to Fiorello, scared to speak.
Adalia was timid.
Arya, in the next room, woke up from the noise. "What's going on? Why is Adalia crying?"
Arya thought it was Adalia crying. When she saw a strange girl, she asked, "Who is this child?"
Maggie said, "This is the child I mentioned. She found her way here tonight."
Arya came over, saying, "She's grown so much. When she was born, she was tiny. I wouldn't have recognized her."
Arya really couldn't recognize her. That was how fast a child could grow.
With an extra child in the house, Maggie didn't know what to do. "Mom, it's late. You take Emily to sleep tonight."
Emily stopped crying but tugged at Maggie's hand. "Mom, I want to sleep with you. I've never slept with you before."
