Chapter 529 The Wedding Mishap
Fiorello was truly satisfied this time, with both food and the warmth of a soft embrace.
Afterwards, the two lay on the couch, Maggie nestled in his arms, teasingly scolding, "Satiation breeds desire."
Fiorello's heavy breath burned against Maggie's ear and neck, whispering, "I really don't want to go to work anymore. I need to quickly train a successor. Adalia is only six this year. She can take over at twenty, so there's still fourteen years to go."
Hearing Fiorello say this, Maggie turned in his arms, looking at his chiseled features, and said, "Adalia, she..."
He gently interrupted her, "She has the last name Flores, your daughter. If no one claims her, then she's my daughter."
Maggie wanted to say something, but she didn't.
No one knew what would happen in the next decade or so. Fiorello might change his mind by then, so there was no need to say anything now that would upset him.
Maggie turned back around, her back against his burning chest, and closed her eyes, "I'm going to sleep."
After sex, Maggie tended to get sleepy, and her sleep quality was always good.
"Okay." Fiorello kissed the back of her neck.
The next day.
The marriage alliance between the Flores family and the Holmes family was the talk of the town. Fiorello left Maggie a wedding invitation and went to the office first.
Maggie dropped Adalia off at school and then took the wedding invitation to the wedding venue.
Fiorello gave Maggie the wedding invitation so she could see Jenny get caught firsthand.
The wedding was set to start at noon. Maggie arrived at 10:30 with the wedding invitation. She wore a mask and found a corner seat to sit and wait calmly.
There weren't many guests at the wedding, about fifteen tables, all filled with people of significant status in the community.
But these people weren't all there to bless the newlyweds; they wanted to see if the marriage alliance between the Flores family and the Holmes family would go smoothly.
The atmosphere at the wedding was a bit solemn. If it weren't for the wedding decorations and the composite wedding photo at the entrance, it wouldn't even look like a wedding.
Joseph and Kevin were greeting guests. So far, only Joseph and a few others from the Flores family had arrived. Eleanor and the two brothers from the Flores family were absent, and even the groom hadn't shown up yet.
Fiorello was the head of the Flores family. His absence meant that Gregory's status wasn't recognized, and this marriage alliance wasn't acknowledged. It was just a wedding Joseph had arranged for his illegitimate son.
Joseph greeted guests while sending people to find Gregory. The wedding was about to start, and the groom hadn't arrived, which was highly inappropriate.
Seeing that Gregory hadn't arrived, Kevin urged Joseph, "Joseph, what's going on with Gregory? Why isn't he here yet? The wedding starts in half an hour."
Joseph lied, "He's on his way, stuck in traffic. He'll be here soon."
"Why aren't Fiorello and Holden here? And where's Eleanor? Why haven't I seen her?"
Joseph smiled, "Eleanor has some business in Atlantica and can't make it back in time. She told me this morning to apologize to you."
Kevin naturally didn't believe this. Eleanor's presence didn't matter, but without Fiorello, the wedding would be criticized by the community, and Jenny would be the subject of gossip.
"Joseph, Kevin, congratulations." A familiar face came over to offer congratulations.
The two of them smiled and responded.
They were all seasoned businessmen, so they had the ability to handle such situations.
After some socializing, Joseph found an excuse to step away and called Gregory, but couldn't get through. Fiorello and Holden's phones were also off, as if they had planned it.
Joseph was anxious. Just then, the bodyguard sent to find Gregory returned. "Mr. Joseph Flores, we found Mr. Gregory Flores."
"Where is he?"
The bodyguard hesitated, "At Happy Pub, still asleep."
"Idiot." Joseph angrily said, "Get some people, tie him up if you have to, and bring him here before the wedding starts in half an hour."
"Yes, sir." The bodyguard quickly left.
Meanwhile.
Jenny was in the rest room in her wedding dress, waiting to make her entrance. Every woman dreamed of wearing a wedding dress, but at this moment, she wasn't happy at all.
Looking at the puffy wedding dress and her body, which had gained weight due to pregnancy, Jenny felt very irritated.
To hide her pregnant belly, she had to wear a lantern skirt-style wedding dress, which was not her dream wedding dress at all.
Even with this style, it couldn't completely hide her belly. The thought of guests pointing at her belly made her dread social events.
Jenny glanced at Holly, who was standing nearby, and said, "I'm going out for fresh air. It's stuffy in here."
"Ms. Holmes, I'll go with you." Holly was hired by Kevin to keep an eye on Jenny and prevent her from backing out.
"No need." Jenny glared at Holly, "The wedding is about to start. I won't back out. You don't need to follow me. I know my dad sent you."
Holly stood there awkwardly as Jenny lifted her skirt and walked out arrogantly.
As soon as she reached the hallway, a man dressed as a waiter approached and handed her a note. She was puzzled, but the waiter walked away immediately.
Jenny read the note, her face paling with fear, and her legs grew weak.
