Chapter 332 Eavesdrop

Fiorello could have kids, so why did he say he couldn't?

That was really confusing.

Benjamin said, "I'm not lying to you. Why would Fiorello lie? The Flores family has tons of assets. Wouldn't he want an heir?"

Holden didn't care about running the company; he just wanted to be rich and enjoy life.

If Fiorello hadn't forced him to be vice president, he wouldn't even step into the company, let alone fight for it.

Holden thought, 'Yeah, why does Fiorello say he can't have kids? Doesn't he want a child with Maggie? With their genes, the kid would be gorgeous.'

Both were trying to figure out Fiorello's motives. Suddenly, they exchanged glances, both shocked.

They weren't dumb. It only took a while for them to figure it out.

It wasn't that Fiorello couldn't have kids; it was Maggie who couldn't.

Benjamin said, "Fiorello is really obsessed. He's telling such a big lie for Maggie."

Holden was equally shocked. "If my parents find out, it'll cause trouble."

Maggie was Eleanor and Joseph's ideal daughter-in-law, but if they found out Maggie couldn't have kids, that might change.

Benjamin quickly said, "Holden, don't say I told you this. Don't let this get out."

"Of course, I won't say anything," Holden said, "Fiorello really likes Maggie. If this slips out, he'll kill me."

They decided to keep it a secret, pretending not to know.

But they didn't realize their conversation was overheard by Jenny, who had come to the company to find Fiorello.

She thought, 'Maggie being unable to have kids is good news.'

'A wealthy family would never want a daughter-in-law who couldn't have kids. Many daughters-in-law in wealthy families are required by their mothers-in-law to have three or five kids to secure their position.'

Jenny was secretly delighted and decided not to find Fiorello, quietly leaving instead.

Soon, it was the night before the anniversary celebration.

Maggie was at home picking out dresses; Fiorello had sent her several photos, making it hard for her to choose.

"Adalia, which dress do you think looks best on me?" Maggie asked.

Adalia looked seriously and pointed to a pink-purple gradient dress. "Mommy, this one is prettier. You'll look beautiful in it."

The pink-purple gradient dress was very particular about skin tone, and Maggie's skin was so fair it almost glowed, making it a perfect fit.

The dress was strapless with sheer sleeves, adding a dreamy and light touch.

Arya came in from the balcony with the laundry and glanced at Maggie's phone. "I think this one looks good too. Maggie, do you have to wear a dress for the anniversary celebration?"

"Then this one it is." Maggie decided. "Such important occasions have dress codes. Mom, Fiorello also prepared a few dresses for you to choose from."

Arya was flattered. "Do I have to go too?"

"Yes, both you and Adalia are going," Maggie said with a smile. "Fiorello said it's also his mom's wish."

Adalia happily said, "Grandma, come with us."

Arya felt a bit nervous. "I think I shouldn't go. I don't know anything and might embarrass your mom."

Last time at the Flores family dinner, Arya had been very nervous and made a fool of herself. Such an important occasion as the anniversary celebration, gathering all the people of high society, made her very scared.

Maggie stood up, placed her hands on Arya's shoulders, and said, "Fiorello's mom will take care of you; don't worry."

Arya shook her head. "I really shouldn't go. You and Fiorello take Adalia. I'll stay home to clean up. The sheets and blankets need changing and washing. There's a lot to do."

"Mom." Maggie was about to say more when Fiorello came back.

Fiorello had been taking medicine, and the smell of it filled the room as soon as he entered. Maggie noticed and asked, "Why do you smell so strongly of medicine these days?"
