Chapter 397 Paternity Test with Adalia
Adalia used to have thick hair, so her small birthmark was hard to spot until she shaved her head.
Arya got more excited the more she looked. A thought crossed her mind: 'Adalia might be my long-lost granddaughter.'
That birthmark wasn't just a coincidence; it matched her granddaughter's exactly.
"Maggie, come here!" Arya called out, waving her over.
"Mom, what's up?" Maggie asked, confused by Arya's excitement.
"Look at this," Arya said, pulling Maggie over to see the birthmark on Adalia's head. "Do you see this peach-shaped birthmark?"
"Yeah, I see it. I never noticed it before," Maggie said, seeing the birthmark for the first time. But why was Arya so excited about a birthmark?
Arya beamed. "Your daughter, the one you had years ago, had the same peach-shaped birthmark. I remember it clearly."
Maggie was stunned. "Mom, are you saying Adalia is my daughter?"
"Yes, it can't be a coincidence. The same birthmark in the same spot," Arya said, tearing up. "I'm sure she's your daughter. Adalia looks just like you did as a kid. Plus, she's an orphan and almost five years old. Everything fits."
Maggie was overwhelmed and struggled to process it all.
"Adalia's so-called biological parents died in a car accident, and that's why she ended up in the orphanage," Maggie said, still in disbelief. "Could Adalia really be my daughter? Then who is Emily?"
Despite her doubts, Maggie felt a connection, as if Adalia was indeed her daughter.
Feeling emotional, Maggie said, "Let's do a DNA test."
Arya was thrilled. If Adalia was her granddaughter, it would be amazing.
"I'll call the doctor," Arya said.
The hospital could do the test, and soon the doctor arrived. While Adalia slept, they took a blood sample.
Maggie was eager for the results and paid extra to speed up the process.
The expedited test would take six hours, so they'd know by tomorrow morning.
When Maggie had done a DNA test with Emily before, it took three days.
Maggie didn't tell Fiorello yet. Both she and Arya decided to wait for the results first.
Arya was convinced Adalia was her granddaughter and that there had been a mix-up with Emily.
But the DNA test would give the final answer.
After dinner, Maggie asked Arya to go home since there was still a child there.
Arya reminded her and then left.
Not long after Arya left, Eleanor and Joseph heard about Adalia's accident and came to visit.
They were fond of Adalia and heartbroken to see her suffering.
Seeing Adalia's head wrapped in bandages, Eleanor said, "This must hurt a lot. How could such a small child suffer so much?"
Joseph held Adalia's small hand and said, "Once she recovers, we'll take her back to the Flores Mansion to live with us and get her health back."
Seeing how much Eleanor and Joseph cared for Adalia, Maggie wondered if they'd still accept her if she turned out to be her daughter.
Eleanor asked, "Maggie, where's Fiorello? Why are you here alone?"
"He went to the police station," Maggie said, just as Fiorello walked in.
Fiorello opened the door and saw Joseph and Eleanor. "Dad, Mom, why are you here?"
Eleanor said, "Adalia had a serious accident; we had to come see her. Fiorello, what happened? How did Adalia get hurt like this?"
Wondering why Alan and Susan had taken Adalia, Maggie looked at Fiorello and asked, "What did Alan say?"
