Chapter 770 Meeting the Parents
Timothy was terrified, but what scared him even more was Melissa's cold-bloodedness.
Was this still the gentle and kind sister he knew?
Timothy barely recognized the Melissa in front of him. The old Melissa wouldn't even have the heart to step on an ant.
Now, with Desmond's left leg gone, Melissa acted as if it was nothing. She was too cold-blooded.
Timothy stared at Melissa, and Melissa noticed Timothy's odd behavior and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Timothy said, "Melissa, Desmond lost a leg just to keep Fiorello. He lost a leg."
"Yeah, so what?" Melissa frowned. "Timothy, why are you making such a big deal out of it? It's just a leg. Besides, it's not like I made him crash the car."
Timothy was shocked by Melissa's heartlessness. He thought about how Melissa had previously manipulated him into donating bone marrow using family ties. Did Melissa see everyone as a tool to be used?
Was he, her own brother, just like Desmond?
Timothy suddenly asked, "Melissa, if one day you needed to sacrifice your brother's life to achieve some goal, would you do it? Would you sacrifice your brother without hesitation?"
Timothy was willing to sacrifice for Melissa, but this was different from Melissa's cold indifference towards him. These were two entirely different matters.
Hearing this, Melissa's expression changed. She took Timothy's arm and said gently, "What are you thinking? You're the closest person to me. How could I ever do anything to hurt you?"
Timothy forced a smile, but he was still worried.
He no longer understood Melissa.
"Mom wants us to go home for dinner tonight. Are you free?" Timothy's tone now carried a hint of humility, and every word seemed to seek Melissa's approval.
Melissa said, "I need to stay with Fiorello. Desmond is injured, and this is my time to shine. I can't talk to you anymore. I've been out for too long; Fiorello might get suspicious."
"Melissa, you can't deceive him forever. How about..." Timothy wanted Melissa to give up.
Melissa interrupted him, "I never give up halfway."
Seeing that he couldn't persuade Melissa, Timothy said nothing more.
Melissa went back into the hospital. Fiorello had already come out of the ICU after checking on Desmond. He was standing alone outside the hospital corridor, smoking to relieve his stress.
The perpetrator wasn't seriously injured and was still conscious. Fiorello had personally gone to see him and asked about the incident.
It was indeed Desmond who had crashed into him. Even the surveillance footage provided by the police confirmed it.
Fiorello had watched the footage. Before the accident, Desmond was standing by the roadside, looking a bit off. There were still a few seconds left on the red light, and no normal person would have run the red light.
Desmond was looking straight ahead. He saw the red light, so why did he still run it?
Fiorello couldn't understand why Desmond would pay such a high price.
"Fiorello." Melissa found him and comforted him softly, "Don't be sad. It's already a great fortune that Uncle Desmond's life was saved."
Fiorello suddenly asked, "When can I meet your family?"
Melissa was stunned and didn't react immediately. "You want to meet my family?"
Could it be that he agreed to get married?
Fiorello said, "It's been a while. It's about time. Let's arrange to meet your parents tonight."
Melissa thought it was too sudden, but if she disagreed, it would arouse Fiorello's suspicion. So she said, "Okay, but only my mom is home. My dad is out of town and hasn't come back yet."
Melissa was relieved that Mark had gone to Cyberland. Otherwise, she wouldn't know what to do.
She couldn't let Mark see Fiorello; that would be a disaster.
"Alright, you arrange it then." Fiorello extinguished his cigarette and walked away.
Desmond was in the ICU and didn't need anyone to watch over him. Melissa had thoughtfully hired a nurse. If anything happened, the nurse would notify them, so there was no need to stay at the hospital.
Melissa quickly called Ashley. She needed to go back and explain things to Ashley to make sure the truth wasn't exposed.
