Chapter 316 A Big Misunderstanding

Ashley was filled with regret.

"I was just anxious and afraid that if I left it to someone else, it wouldn't be done right. That's why I did it myself," Ashley said urgently, "Mark, what do we do now? Think of something quickly."

Ashley was truly scared now.

Mark knew that Ashley intended to deal with Maggie, but he hadn't expected her to use such a foolish method.

"Right now, there's no news about Maggie, and the police haven't come knocking. That means Maggie hasn't called the police, so there's still a chance to turn things around."

Mark analyzed, "If she hands the evidence over to the police, with the Jackson family's influence, you won't be in trouble. Besides, Maggie has Jackson's blood in her veins. She's family. She probably won't go to the police. However, this means she has got the goods on you."

Hearing that Maggie might not report to the police, Ashley felt a bit relieved.

But then, with a sharp tone, Ashley said, "Maggie wouldn't be thinking of blackmailing us, would she?"

"It's not impossible," Mark said, puffing on his cigar. "Maggie is very meticulous. Your failure tonight shows that she has been suspicious of us and has been on guard. Maggie is indeed clever."

"You actually praise her," Ashley said angrily, "I knew Maggie wasn't that simple. She wants to get a third of the Jackson family's assets. That's impossible."

"Now that the relationship has broken apart, it's unlikely she'll donate bone marrow to Melissa," Mark said after rumination, "We'll have to think of another way."

"We've waited so long but still can't find a suitable bone marrow match. We absolutely can't use our son's bone marrow to save Melissa. That's out of the question," Ashley said anxiously.

Mark replied, "We definitely can't use Timothy's. I have only one son. I can't sacrifice Timothy's health to save a daughter."

Mark fundamentally preferred boys over girls. He could love his daughter, but his son was undoubtedly more important.

A son could inherit the family business and make the Jackson family prosper.

Ashley was at a loss. "So what do we do now? We can't just watch Melissa die."

"Why panic? It's not the end yet," Mark said, puffing on his cigar. "If Maggie were a son, that would be even better. I'd really want her back."

Mark's tone was filled with regret.

Maggie was capable, meticulous, and smart. She was much better than Timothy.

Timothy didn't have the bad habits of wealthy children, but he was of average aptitude. He wasn't suited for business. If Maggie could assist him with the company's affairs, it would be different.

The company was still in the hands of the Jackson family, and Maggie could work for the Jackson family. After all, family was certainly better than outsiders.

Hearing this, Ashley became anxious and said, "I dare you to acknowledge her, Mark. This family was built by you and me together. You can't recognize Maggie's identity."

"You're so impatient. I was just speaking off the cuff. Go rest. I'll make a call to confirm whether Maggie has filed a police report."

This calmed Ashley down.

Ashley was still worried that Maggie might report to the police.

After sending Ashley away, Mark indeed began to consider bringing Maggie back.

Melissa's health was poor, Timothy was of average aptitude, but Maggie was smart and quick-witted, who was suitable for business management.

Mark, puffing on his cigar, started planning how to tame Maggie, making her obediently acknowledge him as her father and work for the Jackson family.

Compared to Melissa's illness, Mark was more concerned about whether the Jackson family business could grow.

'Moreover, Maggie is beautiful, and beauty is a woman's best weapon, making her work more effective.' After much thought, Mark decided to start with Arya.

In his eyes, Arya was a brainless fool, the kind who could be coaxed with a few sweet words.

The next day.

When Maggie woke up, she was pondering how to maximize the benefits of the evidence she had.

At that moment, the doorbell rang, and Maggie went to answer it.

Holden came in with breakfast. "Maggie, I brought you breakfast. My service is top-notch. Don't forget to say a few good words for me in front of Fiorello."

"Not bad," Maggie said and took the breakfast inside.

Holden followed her in, his eyes inadvertently catching sight of a pair of men's pants thrown on the bed. His expression immediately changed.

Just then, a man's voice came from the bathroom. "Darling, can you bring me my clothes?"

For a moment, Holden didn't recognize it was Fiorello's voice. His eyes darted back and forth between Maggie and the bathroom in shock.

"Maggie." Holden almost wanted to cry.

'Is Maggie cheating on Fiorello?

'And she isn't even hiding it. She let me find out.

'She really doesn't see me as an outsider.

'What should I do? I couldn't just pretend I hadn't seen it, but should I really tell Fiorello?' In those few seconds, Holden's mind raced with thoughts.

After handing the clothes to Fiorello, Maggie returned to find Holden with a conflicted expression. "What's wrong with you?"
