Chapter 130 Surprise or Deception?

Maggie inhaled deeply, her gaze sweeping over the furnishings of the house. "He didn't have an affair," she announced, "but he does have a house."At this revelation, Dulcinea let out a chuckle. "I was expecting something more dramatic," she admitted. "It's only natural for him to own a house. In fact, it's a positive thing."In Dulcinea's mind, she rationalized the situation. Given Fiorello's wealth, it was only expected that he would own not just one house, but several properties.Maggie, however, shook her head in disagreement. "This morning, there was a leak in the house, and the neighbor downstairs came to inform me," she explained. "When I approached the property management, I discovered that the house is registered under Fiorello's name. He had initially told me he didn't own a house. What was he implying? This house is worth over two million dollars. Is he safeguarding it from me, assuming I want his house?"
Her voice was laced with anger as she recounted the situation.Dulcinea, on the other hand, had assumed something more significant had transpired. If Maggie was this upset over a mere house, what would her reaction be if she discovered Fiorello was a billionaire with twenty billion dollars in assets?"Maggie, you're viewing this situation from a narrow perspective," Dulcinea advised. "Consider this: the house is Fiorello's, and your introduction to each other was through a third party. It's only natural for him to be cautious initially. He may not have any ill intentions.""But that doesn't excuse his deception," Maggie retorted, her fury evident. "I even called him to remind him about the rent, and he continued to lie. Dulce, this is a matter of trust between a husband and wife. If he doesn't trust me, it means he doesn't see me as family.""That's not necessarily true, Maggie. Don't be so obstinate," Dulcinea interjected.Maggie countered, "Dulce, why are you always defending Fiorello? When you learned that this house, worth a fortune, belongs to him, why weren't you surprised?"Dulcinea, careful not to reveal the secret, offered a smile. "You two are legally married now. Why would I advise you to divorce over a house? Surely, you wouldn't go to such lengths over a property. Yes, you're upset about his deception, but deception can be born out of good intentions as well. Now that you have a house, your living conditions will improve, won't they?"Despite her calm demeanor, Dulcinea felt a twinge of guilt and worry that Maggie might suspect something was amiss.

Maggie found herself locked in a gaze with Dulcinea, the panic in the latter's eyes evident. "I believe this could be a good thing," Maggie ventured, her tone gentle. "How does Fiorello treat you? Do you like him?"
Dulcinea's response was a sharp retort, her words laced with a defensive edge. Maggie was no fool; she knew Dulcinea held a certain fondness for Fiorello. Otherwise, why would she react so vehemently? As Maggie fell into a contemplative silence, Dulcinea seized the opportunity to press on. "Your anger stems from your concern for him," she observed, her voice softening. "If a mere house can incite such a reaction, what if your husband were a hidden billionaire? Would you leave him then?"Dulcinea's words were not only a challenge but also a test of Maggie's stance on the matter."Dulce, you're deflecting," Maggie countered, her voice firm. "This is about trust.""Let's circle back to the beginning," Dulcinea proposed, her tone steady. "You two were introduced by a mutual friend. You barely knew each other, so how can you speak of trust?" She paused, letting her words sink in. "Did you trust him from the start?"Maggie found herself at a loss for words. Indeed, her initial interactions with Fiorello were tinged with skepticism. She had viewed him merely as a pawn in her dealings with Arya.Unfazed by Maggie's silence, Dulcinea continued, "Consider it from a different angle. Just because Fiorello didn't disclose it to you earlier doesn't mean he won't in the future. Perhaps he's still figuring out how to broach the subject. Maybe you should be a bit more patient.""But why are you defending Fiorello today, Dulce?" Maggie queried, her brows furrowed in confusion. "Has he offered you something in return?"Dulcinea's voice wavered with emotion as she said, "He has brought happiness to my friend. That, in itself, is the greatest reward."Maggie was both moved and amused by Dulcinea's words. "Dulce, you truly are my lucky charm."Ignoring Maggie's jest, Dulcinea pressed on. "Setting that aside, are you truly content with him? He's an ideal husband—he earns well and is willing to share his income. He's considerate. So, quit your grumbling. Men like Fiorello are a rare find."Dulcinea's words resonated with Maggie, instilling a sense of calm within her. "After learning about this, I've done some thinking. I can appreciate that him owning a house is a positive thing. However, his secrecy makes me feel as though he doesn't regard me as his wife.""You're upset because he doesn't love you as deeply as you'd hoped," Dulcinea stated bluntly.Maggie nodded in agreement. "Precisely. If he had disclosed this to me himself, it would have been a delightful surprise. Discovering it on my own, however, feels like a betrayal.""Then let's wait a bit longer, shall we?" Dulcinea suggested, a warm smile gracing her lips. "Perhaps he has an even grander surprise in store for you."Maggie couldn't help but laugh. "As long as it's not a fright."Their conversation was abruptly interrupted by a piercing scream from the bedroom. Without a moment's hesitation, Maggie rushed in to investigate, her heart pounding in her chest.
