Chapter 238 Infertility, Not Impotence

Fiorello's words shocked everyone. Two announcements that night greatly surprised Joseph and Eleanor.
When Joseph heard that his son couldn't conceive, his gaze subconsciously glanced at Fiorello's lower body.

"Dad, I can't conceive; it's not impotence," Fiorello explained.

Joseph's face turned red, and Eleanor felt embarrassed and quite helpless.
Fiorello managed to make light of what was originally a serious matter.
To get back on track, Fiorello's infertility was a concern for Joseph and Eleanor.
Joseph anxiously asked, "Is it true? When did this happen? Your body seems fine. How could you not conceive?"

Eleanor also inquired, "Have you been to the hospital for a check-up? What did the doctor say?"

Fiorello looked hesitant, embarrassed, and lied. "The doctor said my sperm is inactive. Dad, Mom, I'm unfilial, unable to bear children for the Flores family. This responsibility will have to fall to Holden in the future."

Upon hearing this, Holden, who was preparing to observe from the sidelines, quickly asked, "Are you serious? You really can't conceive?"

" The hospital has confirmed it," Fiorello said, "I've been to several hospitals, and the results are the same. That's why we adopted Adalia."

Eleanor asked, "Does Maggie know?"

"I haven't figured out how to tell her yet," Fiorello fabricated seriously. "I will find the right opportunity to tell her everything. Mom, please continue preparing for Maggie and me's wedding and pick a new auspicious day."

Joseph worried. "What if Maggie finds out you can't conceive and rejects you? Let's not rush the wedding. First, handle this matter. Fiorello, as a descendant of the Flores family, you must be honest."

"Yes," Fiorello responded. "Dad, you're right."

Eleanor added, "With medical advancements today, infertility is not a problem. IVF is an option."

Joseph glanced at Fiorello and said with disdain, "His sperm is inactive; IVF is not an option."

Joseph's tone was very disapproving. He then turned to Holden and instructed, "No more drinking or smoking for you. Take care of your health. You're young; starting tomorrow, learn from me about health preservation."
Holden eventually faced accusations, but he continued to resist.
Joseph's anger dissipated a lot, and he went back with Eleanor.
Fiorello returned home, and Dulce was also getting ready to leave.
Maggie saw Dulce leaving the door. As Dulce entered the elevator, she said, "There is no need to see me off. Come visit next time, when I am free. I'm heading back now."
"Alright, take care on the way, and text me when you get home."
"Okay." Dulce waved, closed the elevator doors, and went down.
While Fiorello went to see off Joseph and the others, Maggie cleaned up the table.
Arya also went back to rest in the bedroom, and Adalia, who was discharged today, was tired and fell asleep in the children's room.
The house finally quieted down. Maggie sat on the sofa to rest for a while and asked in a lowered voice, "Fiorello, is your uncle still angry?"
"I've sorted things out with them, so he's not angry anymore." Fiorello squeezed her shoulder and said, "Let's go rest in our room."
"Okay." Maggie stood up. "You've had a long day. Come in. I'll give you a massage."
"Alright."
Fiorello went to the room, took off his coat, lay down on the bed, and patted his shoulder. "Come."
Maggie smiled, sat on his lap, and started massaging him.
Thinking about Joseph's reaction at the dinner table, Maggie asked while massaging him, "Why was your uncle so angry? I've been thinking about adopting Adalia. I realize it was a bit rushed. We should have discussed it with both sides' elders beforehand."
"My uncle is conservative. Don't overthink it. Everything is explained now." Fiorello closed his eyes, lying down, and said, "Let's just focus on living well from now on."
Maggie looked at his profile, thinking about his hard work and feeling sorry for him. She said, "My mom is injured. Adalia needs to go to school, so I have to stay home to take care of them temporarily. I can't go to work, and all the responsibilities at home fall on you. Honey, you've been working hard. When my mom's leg heals, I'll go back to work, and my mom can help with picking up Adalia."
Even when she spent a penny of Fiorello's money, she felt guilty and indebted.
She owed Fiorello too much.
Fiorello sat up, looked at her affectionately with deep eyes, and gently touched her face, saying, "It's my duty to earn money and support the family."
"But I..."
Before Maggie could finish, Fiorello leaned down and kissed her on the lips, dispelling all her worries in the gentlest way.
