Chapter 290 Various Concerns
At the door stood not Fiorello but Isabella.
"Mom, it's Aunt Isabella," Adalia called from the living room, sounding disappointed.
Maggie was also surprised. Why had Isabella come so late?
She quickly got up and went over, only to see Isabella carrying things inside.
"Maggie, I'm here to thank you," Isabella said, holding fresh fruit and a set of skincare products worth over ten thousand dollars.
It was La Mer. Although Maggie had never used it, she knew it was a prestigious brand from conversations with colleagues.
At a previous class reunion, a group of female classmates had boasted about using La Mer and SK-II, all international luxury brands.
Isabella placed the skincare products and fruit on the table and said, "I feel guilty for troubling you with my divorce. These are for you, just a small token of my appreciation."
"Isabella, there's no need to be so polite. Take these things back; I won't accept them," Maggie said, "If you keep doing this, I really won't help you in the future. Besides, I didn't really do much."
Maggie felt quite surprised. She and Isabella had never gotten along well before, always exchanging cold and sarcastic remarks. Now, suddenly becoming so close, she felt a bit uncomfortable.
She really didn't want to get involved in Isabella's divorce. She had even advised Arya not to get involved, fearing it would be a thankless task.
"You must accept them," Isabella insisted, "If you don't, it means you look down on me."
"I really don't want them, and I don't need them. I'll take the fruit, but please take the skincare products back," Maggie said with a smile. "These things are so expensive, I wouldn't buy them myself. Using them once doesn't make a difference; it's just a waste. You take them back, and I'll keep the fruit."
Seeing Maggie's insistence, Isabella didn't push further. She glanced inside and asked, "Fiorello hasn't come home yet?"
"No, he's out socializing. He'll probably be back late," Maggie answered honestly, not inviting Isabella to stay this time, as last night had been quite awkward.
Hearing that Fiorello hadn't returned, Isabella felt a bit disappointed but quickly hid it. "Alright, I was just passing by. I'll head back now."
"Okay, I won't see you out then," Maggie said, handing the skincare products back to Isabella.
Isabella left the apartment building, feeling down about not seeing Fiorello. Just then, she ran into him returning home.
She didn't greet him but hid behind a bulletin board.
Fiorello was wearing a dark coat over a deep blue suit. The well-tailored suit paired with the coat gave him a commanding presence, exuding a masculine aura that could make any woman's knees weak.
His handsome features and cold expression were more striking than a runway model's, and his demeanor was even more outstanding.
On the quiet apartment path, Fiorello walked alone. The streetlights cast his shadow long, and even just his back could captivate anyone's gaze.
Isabella hid behind the bulletin board, watching Fiorello enter the building. She felt like she was going crazy staring at Fiorello like that.
After returning from Maggie's house, Fiorello's handsome and charming image lingered in Isabella's mind.
Isabella took out her phone and opened Maggie's Instagram, seemingly searching for something.
Maggie's Instagram didn't have any photos of Fiorello. She mostly posted about jewelry design knowledge.
Disappointed, Isabella put down her phone and turned off the lights to sleep.
In the following days, Isabella kept finding excuses to visit Maggie's house or invite Maggie out for meals.
Maggie was very busy and really didn't have the time. She hadn't been to work for over two months, and Angela had organized the client information for her, which she needed to review.
Emily had resigned, just as Angela had mentioned before. Being the heiress of the Roberts family, Emily wouldn't stay long as a jewelry designer at a small company.
After learning that Fiorello was married, Emily gave up and shifted her focus elsewhere.
Fiorello, on the other hand, was busy preparing for the anniversary celebration on the 8th of next month and was troubled about how to confess to Maggie.
He worried that Maggie wouldn't accept it.
Maggie didn't know what Fiorello was busy with. He seemed very busy, leaving early and coming back late.
Maggie only found out about Farrell's dismissal three days after it happened. She was surprised but didn't inquire much about the reason for his dismissal.
With Farrell no longer at the company, she felt somewhat relieved. Farrell's gaze had always been unsettling, and he had even followed her late at night. If Farrell did something extreme, it would be dangerous.
However, that night, her worst fears came true.
