Chapter 755 Going to the Police Station to Retrieve Memories

Maggie didn't say anything, not wanting to argue with Eleanor, who had lost her son.

Eleanor took Nate to the nursery, while Maggie, feeling irritated, scratched her head and wearily returned to the bedroom.

In the hallway, Maggie ran into Joseph. Since Fiorello's incident, Joseph had gotten a lot more gray hair.

Maggie called out, "Dad."

"Maggie, you've worked hard," Joseph said, understanding Maggie's struggles. "You've done very well. Fiorello was lucky to marry you, and it's also a blessing for our family."

"Dad, we're all family. There's no need to talk about hard work; it's what I should do," Maggie said with concern. "Dad, are you feeling any better?"

Fiorello's situation had been a huge blow to Joseph, and over the past few months, his health had deteriorated.

Joseph shook his head. "Nothing major."

Joseph hesitated before saying, "Maggie, don't blame your mom. Now Katie and Nate are her emotional support, which is why she's so possessive of the kids."

Maggie, understanding, said, "Dad, don't worry. I won't blame Mom. I understand. I'm busy outside and can't take care of the kids. With Mom looking after them, it takes a load off my mind. I'm grateful."

Joseph nodded with relief. He knew Maggie must be feeling uncomfortable, but was enduring it for Fiorello's sake, showing filial piety. He saw this in her actions.

Joseph was also moved and pleasantly surprised by Maggie's dedication to the company.

Maggie had never managed a company before, so she had to put in extra effort to learn. To avoid mistakes, she checked and verified everything.

If it weren't for William and Caleb's assistance, she wouldn't have managed.

Joseph said, "Maggie, get some rest. Don't overwork yourself."

"Okay, I will."

Maggie returned to her room, filled the bathtub with water, and soaked herself in it, resting her head on the edge with her eyes closed.

As soon as she closed her eyes, her mind was filled with images of Fiorello. Unconsciously, tears began to flow.

Every time she thought of Fiorello, her heart ached. How would she endure the coming decades without him?

With tears streaming down her face, Maggie slowly slid into the bathtub, letting the hot water envelop her body.

After sinking into the tub for over ten seconds, she emerged, her tears mingling with the bathwater, indistinguishable.

She wrapped herself in a towel and walked out of the bathroom. The bedroom still had a photo of the two of them, taken during their last trip to the ski resort with Adalia.

She picked up the photo frame and remembered what Fiorello had said at the time. He had said they would find time to take another family photo with Katie and Nate.

But he had broken his promise.

Maggie gently caressed the photo and softly said, "Fiorello, if there's a next life, let me go first, okay? I can't bear this pain much longer."

The living suffer more than the dead.

Maggie fell asleep holding the photo, her heart aching.

Meanwhile.

Lunaris.

Fiorello was once again trapped in that strange dream and suddenly woke up in a panic.

It was raining, and the wind blew the rain into the room, the cold wind chilling him to the bone.

Fiorello sat on the bed in a daze, listening to the sound of raindrops outside the window, his heart inexplicably aching and suddenly feeling uncomfortable.

He sensed that Melissa and Desmond were hiding something from him. Both were trying hard to conceal something, but he couldn't find anyone he knew or recover his memory.

He had a feeling that a woman was waiting for him, but he couldn't remember who she was.

The next day.

When Melissa came to Fiorello's room, he was already gone.

Melissa panicked and asked Desmond, "Where is he? Where did he go?"

Desmond was also surprised. "I didn't see him. Early in the morning, I didn't see him go out."

"Hurry, check the surveillance," Melissa said. To monitor Fiorello, she had installed cameras at the door. If he went out, they would know.

However, after checking the surveillance, Melissa didn't see Fiorello leave.

This was strange. There was no footage of him leaving, but he was gone.

What Melissa didn't know was that Fiorello had climbed out the window. He had noticed the cameras at the door and climbed over the wall from the yard.

By this time, he had already arrived at the local police station.
