Chapter 596 Revealing Clues
Olivia's question brought up the topic.
Arya felt a little happy inside. Although this couldn't prove anything, it had some effect.
Arya deliberately didn't say anything else, as she didn't know either. She said, "I didn't pay attention. I was in a hurry to bring you things. The law is long and the police will find out. If someone took Adalia, return her, and we won't pursue it."
Olivia said, "It's been months. Are you so sure she's still alive? Maybe she's already..."
"Mom, I want some water," Isabella suddenly appeared, standing on the steps.
Isabella didn't wear a veil at home. Arya was startled and a bit disgusted when she saw Isabella's face.
This was the most genuine reaction. At first, Olivia and Frank were also scared, but they got used to it over time.
Isabella noticed Arya's reaction and mocked herself, "Arya was scared. Do you also think my face is terrifying?"
Arya, embarrassed, said, "Isabella, I didn't mean anything by it. With modern medicine, maybe it can be fixed."
It was an instinctive reaction, Arya couldn't help it.
While speaking, Arya didn't dare to look directly at Isabella's face.
Isabella deliberately sat closer, showing her terrifying face right in front of Arya.
Olivia poured Isabella a glass of water and said, "Isabella's disfigurement is your daughter's fault. If Maggie hadn't suggested and encouraged Isabella to divorce James, things wouldn't have gotten this far. Maggie knew James was cheating but didn't warn Isabella. I think Maggie had bad intentions. She did it on purpose, didn't she?"
"Olivia, you can't say that. It's not Maggie's fault," Arya was displeased. "Maggie didn't force James's cheating. It was Isabella's poor management of the marriage that led to this."
"Arya, are you saying I brought this on myself?" Isabella slammed the water glass on the table, staring at Arya with piercing eyes. "My unhappy marriage and childlessness are my punishment. What about Maggie? Losing her son and then her daughter, isn't that also her fault?"
Arya hurriedly said, "Isabella, you can't speak so harshly. The police haven't concluded that Adalia is gone. How can you curse a child?"
"Missing for months, do you really think she's alive?" Isabella sneered, "You're deceiving yourselves."
With that, Isabella went back to her room. Olivia was terrified. Did Isabella really kill Adalia?
Olivia didn't dare to show it and said to Arya, "Arya, you should leave. Our house is small and can't accommodate you. Don't come if you have nothing to do."
Frank wanted to ease the tension between the two, but Olivia glared at him, "What, are you trying to cozy up to them because they're doing well?"
Frank decided not to say anything, got up, and went to the study.
Arya sat still, deliberately causing trouble, "Olivia, you can talk about my daughter, but I can't talk about yours? Adalia is just a child. Why does Isabella say she's dead? She needs to explain what she means."
"Dead is dead. You're deceiving yourselves. Take your things and leave." Olivia didn't dare let Arya stay longer. She threw out the things Arya brought and dragged Arya out, "Don't come here to show off. What's the point? When I was eating these imported goods, you were still washing dishes for others. What's there to be proud of? Acting like a bumpkin."
Olivia's words were very harsh. She directly kicked Arya out and closed the door.
Arya left angrily and quickly went back to tell Maggie what had happened.
After Arya left, Olivia hurried to Isabella's room, found the doll in the closet, and said, "I need to throw this doll away. If the police find it, we're done."
Isabella sneered, "They'll never find it."
Olivia asked, "Isabella, tell me the truth. Did you kill her? I felt like Arya was here to ask questions. Did the police find out? Does Maggie know something?"
