Chapter 684 Hard to Change
Fiorello returned to Sunset Hills with the two babies, and Arya was particularly surprised and delighted.
She had been staying here with Adalia for a while, feeling lonely and missing the two kids, but unable to see them.
As soon as Fiorello saw Arya, he handed Katie to her, saying, "Mom, can you hold her for a bit? My arms are tired."
A small baby can tire someone out?
He said it on purpose, knowing Arya wanted to hold her, so he gave her the baby.
Arya smiled and said, "Sure, just a moment. I need to wash my hands; I've been working and they're dusty."
Arya, having nothing else to do, had cleaned the house a bit.
There was a nanny, but Arya couldn't stay idle.
No matter how unbothered one might be, if you're covered in dust, you need to wash up first.
Arya washed her hands and sprayed them with alcohol before holding her granddaughter.
Adalia heard her siblings had returned and came downstairs, craning her neck to see.
Arya lowered the baby a bit for Adalia to see.
Eleanor, holding her grandson Nate, smiled and said, "Arya, I need to apologize. I threw away the crosses you gave the babies. I'm really sorry. I was just worried about bacteria and the strings choking the babies or hurting their skin. I didn't mean anything else, please don't take it the wrong way."
Eleanor's proactive apology took Arya by surprise. She wasn't one to hold grudges and smiled, saying, "It's okay, I didn't think it through. We're all family."
Seeing the two had cleared the air, Fiorello said, "Mom, I'll leave this to you. I need to get back to the hospital."
"Go ahead," Eleanor said. "I'll have someone bring the babies' things over soon."
Arya asked, "Are Katie and Nate moving back here?"
Fiorello nodded, "Maggie and I will be back tomorrow, so the babies will naturally come back too. Mom, you'll need to take care of them a bit more from now on."
"Of course," Arya said, feeling very happy.
Seeing there was nothing else, Fiorello returned to the hospital.
Eleanor called the house to have the babies' things sent over, along with her own daily items and clothes.
When Maggie was about to give birth, Eleanor had stayed here for a while. Now it seemed she planned to stay long-term.
Before long, the butler arrived with the babies' things.
Eleanor's items were still on the way.
When Eleanor's things finally arrived, Arya realized Eleanor was also staying here.
This was Fiorello's house, with many empty rooms, so no one could say anything about Eleanor moving in.
The babies' nursery had been prepared long ago, with everything they needed. The two babies would eat and sleep, and their adorable sleeping faces could melt anyone's heart.
While the adults were organizing things, Adalia, wanting to see her siblings, sneaked into the nursery. Seeing them asleep, she stood guard beside them.
Suddenly, Nate woke up. Usually, Nate would cry upon waking due to his crankiness, but seeing Adalia, he didn't cry. Instead, he curiously reached out to touch her face.
Nate's hands were small and couldn't reach, so Adalia leaned in, smiling at her brother.
Nate was very happy and smiled too.
Such a small child wouldn't usually smile so obviously, but this time he really did.
His tiny hands grabbed Adalia's face, showing how much he liked her.
Perhaps this is the magic of blood ties.
Adalia liked Nate very much. Seeing both his hands reaching out, she wanted to hold him.
Just as Adalia was about to pick up her brother, Eleanor's sharp voice rang out, "Adalia, what are you doing?"
Eleanor had come to check on the babies and was startled to see Adalia reaching for Nate. Her immediate thought was concern that Adalia might harm Nate.
Adalia, frightened by the shout, quickly withdrew her hands and gestured to explain, "Nate wants me to hold him."
Eleanor rushed into the room, first checking Nate to make sure he was okay, then said sternly, "Adalia, Nate is still very small. You can't hold him. What if you drop him? And did you disinfect your hands? Nate is very fragile. Our hands carry a lot of bacteria. You need to wash and disinfect them, understand?"
