Chapter 780 Eleanor Confronts
Fiorello's behavior seemed a bit puzzling to others.
Fiorello said, "It's not worth much, but it's still important."
"You're just as strange as that pretty lady earlier," the vendor said. "She was holding an earring, her eyes were red, and she was crying. What's there to cry about over a worthless earring? She seemed to be looking for someone. Do you know her? Was she looking for you?"
Hearing this, Fiorello felt a bit anxious and asked, "What did the pretty lady look like? Do you know her name?"
The vendor replied seriously, "She was very beautiful. As for her name, I didn't dare to ask. There was a handsome guy with her, they looked like a couple. If I tried to chat them up, I'd be asking for trouble."
The vendor mistakenly thought Caleb and Maggie were a couple.
Fiorello glanced in the direction the vendor pointed, thanked him, and left.
The vendor found it strange and muttered, "What a couple of weirdos."
Fiorello walked in the direction the vendor indicated, but didn't see the people the vendor mentioned.
He looked around the street, and his intuition told him he had been here before. The woman who picked up the cherry earrings might be someone he knew.
So, Fiorello didn't go anywhere else. He booked a room at a hotel behind the night market street, planning to wait there.
Maybe he would meet the woman who picked up the earrings.
Maggie got home at one in the morning.
She was exhausted, checked on the babies in the nursery, and fell asleep there.
Katie and Nate woke up in the middle of the night for formula, their cries waking Maggie.
When Maggie opened her eyes, the nanny was already there feeding the babies.
Maggie was so tired that she went back to sleep immediately.
The nanny finished feeding the babies, placed them next to Maggie, and left without disturbing her, leaving a nightlight on.
Katie and Nate snuggled up to Maggie and slept soundly. The three of them slept until dawn.
When Eleanor came in, the babies were already awake, playing quietly without waking Maggie.
They were like little angels, awake but not crying.
Eleanor walked in, intending to take the babies so Maggie could sleep a bit longer.
Maggie woke up, saw Eleanor, and rubbed her eyes. "Mom."
Eleanor said, "You sleep a bit more. I'll take the babies out."
Maggie looked at the time; it was already eight o'clock.
"Mom, let me take care of the babies today. I'll take them for a walk to see the peach blossoms," Maggie said. "I made plans with Dulce."
Maggie had promised Adalia to go see the peach blossoms together.
Hearing this, Eleanor's face immediately turned sour. "Is Adalia the one insisting on seeing the peach blossoms? It's windy today; don't take the babies out. You can take Adalia."
Eleanor intentionally wanted to separate the babies from Adalia.
There was no wind today; it was a beautiful, sunny day, perfect for seeing the peach blossoms.
Maggie knew exactly what Eleanor was implying.
"Mom, I promised Adalia I'd take her to see the peach blossoms. She hasn't seen Katie and Nate in a long time. I want to take all three kids out. Adalia is their sister; she likes Katie and Nate, and they like her too. Siblings need to bond to have a good relationship in the future."
Hearing this, Eleanor picked up Nate, looking displeased. "Maggie, there are some things I need to say. Adalia is your daughter, but she's not really a sibling to these two. You're their mother, and if you're partial to Adalia, that's your business. But these two kids can't be neglected; they are Fiorello's real children."
Eleanor was hinting that Maggie shouldn't favor Adalia and leave the company to her.
"Mom, Adalia is also Fiorello's daughter. Back then..."
Maggie tried to explain, but Eleanor interrupted, "Maggie, don't blame me for being harsh. Adalia having the same last name as Fiorello is already the biggest concession your father and I have made. Now that Fiorello is gone, we're letting you take charge because you're the mother of these two kids, and because Fiorello left the company to you. I don't have any other demands. No matter how you treat Adalia in the future or whether you remarry, the Flores family's assets must go to Nate and Katie."
