Chapter 224 The Photo of the Daughter
"Maggie, I regret it too. I'm sorry, but at that time, I just thought, you're still young, so can't let a child drag you down."
Arya blamed herself. "It's all my fault."
After saying that, Arya took out a photo from her phone. "This is the child; take a look."
Upon hearing it was a photo of her daughter, Maggie quickly took the phone and couldn't control the sadness and guilt in her heart as she looked at the child in the photo.
This was a photo Arya took when the child was just born, with a tiny face, tiny hands, and tiny feet. It was very cute.
Maggie was emotional, trembling as she touched the screen of the phone.
Newborn babies actually looked quite similar to one another. However, they changed on a daily basis and underwent a lot of transformation within a year.
Looking at the photo, Maggie couldn't imagine what her daughter looks like now.
Arya also looked at the photo and said, "That child is now four and a half years old; I don't know what she looks like now."
Maggie covered her mouth, tears falling heavily. Looking at the photo of her daughter, Maggie felt the urge to hug her.
"Mom, I haven't even held her yet, haven't given her a name, haven't bought her a little dress, or even fed her a single mouthful of milk."
Maggie had many regrets; this was the child Maggie had carried for ten months.
Maggie and her daughter had a very close relationship. Even though Maggie lost her memory, seeing a photo of her daughter still evoked strong feelings.
Arya wiped her tears, slowly calming her emotions, and said, "Maggie, you have to think about it. If you go find that child now, how will you explain to Fiorello? I've been keeping it from you, just hoping for your happiness."
"Dulce also told me the same thing, Mom; no matter what Fiorello chooses, I have to find the child; only when my daughter is back by my side, watching her grow up, can I be at ease."
Maggie sniffed. "I don't want to regret it for a lifetime."
Arya understood very well and sighed. "It's all fate; both you and I are unfortunate like this."
Back then, Arya couldn't bear to have an abortion, which led her to be a single mom for more than twenty years just to avoid regrets for a lifetime.
The Phoenix Tree Hotel.
Mark had just returned to the hotel, and Ashley immediately asked, "Why did you go for so long? I haven't seen Arya in over twenty years. Are you trying to rekindle the old flame?"
"Didn't you ask me to visit Arya? Why are you jealous now?" Mark took off his coat and spoke firmly, "I do all for Melissa."
Upon hearing it was for Melissa, Ashley couldn't say much, reminded, "Just remember, don't fall in love with Arya again. I won't tolerate it."
"Arya is older now, full of wrinkles and age spots, and she's not as beautiful as you. I'm not interested in Arya now; you can rest assured." Mark held Ashley's shoulders with both hands, sweetly coaxing, "If it weren't for Melissa, I wouldn't have gone to see Arya."
Upon hearing this, Ashley was delighted; Mark was quite skilled in coaxing women.
Ashley was very confident compared to Arya. She had spent a lot of money maintaining her face over the years and had done a good job. In contrast to Arya, who worked in basic jobs, the difference was like night and day.
Mark also enjoyed the feeling of Arya and Ashley competing for him.
Ashley's attitude improved greatly when she was in a good mood. She asked, "How was Arya's attitude today?"
"I put the property deed and equity transfer in front of Arya. Her attitude has improved a lot. I believe it won't be long before Arya agrees to come back to London with us." Mark said, "Once we're in London, things will be much easier."
Ashley sneered. "I've told you before, Arya is a vain person. She was only after the Jackson family's wealth, pretending to be in love. Now that she's got the house, her attitude has changed instantly. As soon as this matter is settled, she'll take the house back. That's what I intended to leave for Melissa."
